That was unprecedented injury luck even by our standards

That was literally the worst injury season in the Griffin tenure.

Do you have any clue how much talent is on this roster? We have 4 guys who are capable of averaging 20 ppg (Zion, Poole, Murphy, Murray), Herb who is an elite defender, Missi who was a top 10 rookie last year, and we just added two highly thought of lottery picks. The only way this team misses the playoffs is if we have horrible luck with injuries again

Well, one of those players is already out half of the year. And the horrible luck with injuries thing is all but assured based on the past injury luck with this team. With that being said, we built the talent level up, which is all I can ask for.

I get it. It's pretty much impossible for the injuries to be as bad as the 24/25 season was. But it's very safe to assume that it will be worse than league average. And the injury outlook for next season needs to include Murray (whom I was excited about acquiring), who will be missing a large portion of the season, and will be pretty shellish once he returns.

Poole/Herb/Trey/Zion/Missi is fairly talented, and will be pretty fun to watch for however long they're healthy together. But as has been the case for a while, we have a weird collection of talent that may not fit well together. And unlike last offseason (where we expected two of CJ/Herb/Trey to be coming off the bench), our depth is looking pretty bad. If you're expecting significant winning minutes from either Frears or Queen, then you're too optimistic.

If we were starting off the season with this roster + a 90% healthy Murray, then I'd be much more excited.

ETA: We're all worried about defense. One big issue with Murray's injury isn't just the direct impact of losing his defensive play, but also how it trickles down to Zion's defense. Zion isn't considered a good defender, but we've all seen him have stretches of pretty great play on that end. Stretches that were too lengthy to be a fluke. I think that he can be a really good defender over the course of a full season, but it would require his being engaged and being in reasonably good shape (which I think he will be). Defense is contagious, and with Herb's flexibility with defending pretty much any position, having that backcourt would take a LOT of pressure off of Zion defensively.

What the hell are you looking at? Have you seen the other teams in the west?

Clearly you do not even follow the team or the NBA>. Murray is out most of the year. Poole put up 20 on one of the worst teams in the NBA with no other offensive options. The west is absolutely loaded. We could have given up a high draft pick to move up 10 spots in the draft. Dumars is even worse than I imagined and I hated the hire when it happened.

And last year they had Zion, Ingram, CJ, Murphy and Murray. Five guys who could get 20. How’d that work out?

Disagree. With Willie as HC we have a strong possibility of being top3 in a loaded draft next season. Moron move.

This board has some major recency bias. I don’t like Willie as much as the next guy and think it’s a slap in the face that he’s still the coach, but the chances that the circumstances repeat themselves that led to 21 wins last season is extremely unlikely. They’ll be right back where they’re always been, which is a middling play-in team. Which I’m gonna bitch and moan about, but they won’t bottom out again, more than likely.

This team isn’t attracting free agents. Have to make trades or win the draft.

We gave up three first round picks we had next year. Two that were unprotected.

Not that insane of a risk. Giannis doesn’t miss the playoffs and this pelicans team will be in the playoffs.

And what if people get hurt like always and they just gave up a top 5 pick

No clearly you don’t follow the NBA, Poole averaged 19 on a Warriors team that won the championship. Murray has been out of his boot walking around for a month and a half now and is working out/rehabbing 6 days a week already so there is no guarantee he’s missing “most of the year.” Next time you’re going to throw shade at least have a clue on what you’re talking about. Also calling Dumars horrible before seeing how these draft picks pan out is a casual take

If we had a new coach, I be excited. Willie Green isnt going to play either of our rookies unless something wrong happens. Especially young guys who can’t defend. Rather it’s injuries or a bad record. You do that trade for starters not for projects.

We could’ve kept our pick and got Asa Newell.

I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we get to 30 wins. Horrible management and roster.

No way to spin this. It’s a huge blunder.

They’ll spin it. These type fans praise the Pels no matter what. 20 wins brings them joy as they are happy to just be in the club.

We drafted 2 guys that do not excel from deep and can't switch on D.

Queen is not tall for a C, was the least athletic player at the combine, and seems like a terrible fit to pair with Zion.

While the Pels and Bucks may be avg or better than average teams, the odds are better that at least one will end up with a top 10 pick IMO...which we gave away to grab a guy that likely doesn't fit in the modern NBA.

Willie and Joe have track records. That history, paired with the Pels at large, says they do not deserve the benefit of the doubt.

All fans HOPE the moves turn out to be magical. Rational fans EXPECT this to be yet another blunder that we look back upon in disgust.
