Interesting to see how we will progress as a shooter. This workout looks promising.

He has a really good looking stroke, I think he will be fine.

Dyson Daniels started slowly in the G League but improved tremendously as season progressed. While he had a 27.3 3PT% overall, he knocked down 45.2% from deep over his last 9 games.

Hopefully he can carry over some of this progress from late in the G league season

Apparently, there was some issue where the Australian leagues use a slightly different ball. Once he got used to the difference by the end of the year, he was wet.

I think his form in game situations was inconsistent. If you watch some of his misses a lot it looks to be from just a form breakdown. Like sometimes he would hit a three it looked pure as shite, but when he missed the mechanics sometimes looked off.

He has a lot of work to do on that shot.

It is very slow. Needs to quicken the release, but his defense and playmaking are legit.

I love what the Pelicans can put out on the court.

Can always have either Jones or Daniel’s guarding the opposing teams best player while a combination of either Ingram, Zion, and CJ pressuring their defense.

Devil’s advocate. I’m not so sure he needs to quicken the release due to how wide open many of his attempts will be and how high his release point is.

He has the bones of a good jumper. It ain’t Klay Thompson pure or anything, but he’s going to be solid.

I saw some analysis of him last night that said he was actually known as a knockdown shooter up until last year with the Ignite. He and Mathurin played in the same development program and Dyson was supposedly the better shooter of the two when they played together.

So whoever mentioned the Australian Ball potentially being different and having an impact might be onto something.

I feel like we got really lucky he fell to us. I like him a lot more than Benn and Sharpe.

Dyson said that himself.
He said he wasn't worried about his shot b/c he's always had the mechanics down, he just needed to adjust to the new ball and the nba 3 point line. He's still growing and getting stronger, and that'll help with the range. He seems to be a tireless worker so i have zero concerns about his shot being consistent. He may struggle year 1 like most rookies, but he's going to be good.

He's not Klay or KD, so i don't see a need for him to quicken up that shot release. He'll have to be quicker from time to time, but we don't need him taking pull up 3's or step back 3's or anythign dumb like that. 75% of his 3's should be off a pass and more often than not wide open. And he has the skills to destroy people if they run him off the 3 point line. All he needs to do is get to the point where he's a threat on wide open C&S 3's, and he'll become very dangerous on this team with BI and Zion. If a defense has to decide if they want to let him shoot a 40% 3 point shot or run him off where he converts something like 60-70% of the time either scoring or assisting, then he'll be an all-star level player.

Some people talked about Ousmane having some BI in him, which he does not, and neither does Dyson, but we've seen Dyson post smaller guys up and hit that floater over them in the lane. He doesn't need that BI mid range game if that floater stays as deadly as it was in the G-league, and if he can couple that with getting better at perusing the lane with a rim running Zion for alley oops, watch out.

I like the pick. A legit 6-7 point guard is still a pretty rare commodity in the league. The pelicans are going to be playing lineups where Zion is the shortest pelicans on the court. If Zion stays healthy and this roster gets enough 3 pt shooting it’s a versatile and deep roster.

We could conceivably throw out a lineup of all wings AND still have Zion be the shortest dude on the court.

Dyson 6’7.5”
BI 6’8”
Herb 6’8”
Trey 6’10
Zion 6’7”
