Jrue's first game was reason for concern, but what should we expect? We learned last year, Holiday is at peak efficiency playing combo or SG. He was payed handsomely to fill that role. With Rondo (and Jackson) injured, we have abandoned that whole concept. I think the team would be better served by pairing Holiday with a PG while Rondo recovers. Jameer Nelson is familiar with the offense. I have heard Deon Williams mentioned; while not ideal, beggers can't be picky.
I still think a trade for Bledsoe is exactly what this team needs to solidify themselves as a playoff team. Rondo could lead the second unit whenever he returns, a role he would flourish in.

We know what Jrue is, and that's what we will get out of him. Health is is biggest question mark.
His play last night was not any cause for concern whatsoever IMO.

Because he still looks completely lost on offense 18 games and a training camp into AD/DC and Rondo setting him up looks like the only hope of him not staying lost.

What are we going to trade? Asik and Ajinca? We have no assets.

Moore would likely be the biggest salary we send out in a trade.

Because it showed exactly what we saw last year.
Jrue is simply not capable of playing PG next to AD and DC.
Look at his shooting and efficiency numbers at PG with both on the floor, and then without. There's enough of a sample size to look this up.
Hint: With both on the floor it is absolutely dreadful.

At this point, I would prefer to keep Asik until February (when he can come off the books due to illness). If packaged with assets, Ajinca can be included in any deal. We have all of our draft picks (excluding the 2nd traded with Qpon). I want to keep Diallo, but he is an asset. Moore is an effective rotation player. Crawford's contract is a plus. I believe we have a small trade exeption.

It appears that Asik is doing everything he can to make that not happen.

simplest solution
1) crawford has got to go, he's terrible and what he occasionally brings on offense is replaceable
2) sign literally any pass first PG

imo, we miss the playoffs but still sign boogie. fire demps and gentry together, bring in a decent gm who makes a competent hire for a change. medical retirement for asik, draft a kevin knox or if we luck into the top 3 porter/doncic and go forward from there.
we just don't have the depth this year, sadly

Asik's personal motivation aside, he still has to be cleared by an independent doctor. Due to the nature of his illness (and time away), I doubt he'll pass his physical. I fear we do a bone-headed move (like move a 1st and Diallo) to trade Asik, only for his salary be wiped off the books (due to illness) for another team. Let's see how his physical goes first.

I would honestly be surprised at this point if Crawford is not let go for Jameer Nelson and then Crawford is re-signed with the hardship exception in a week.

That's not how the medical retirement works. Only the team he was with when he was diagnosed/got the medical issue can do a medical retirement. That means they wouldn't do what you feared because the other team couldn't just retire Asik and would charge a premium for him to be included in a deal.

I would do that in a heartbeat. I'm not sure Crawford would come back if he's just going to get cut as soon as Rondo is back though. But to me it doesn't matter. His defense is beyond terrible and he looks as uncomfortable in the offense as Jrue so he's going to be a net negative if you play him. Bring on Jameer.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. Asik will be resolved in February, one way or another.
In the meantime, we have enough assets to trade for a player like Bledsoe or Reggie Jackson.

Does he really have a choice? I cannot imagine many teams are beating down the door for him. Maybe he can get a 2 way deal or something, but his best opportunity for $ & playing time would be to resign with the Pels.

I have to admit, I enjoyed watching Crawford play last year. I like his gunslinger mentality. I'm not a fan of his defense or shot selection (especially when well guarded). I don't think his style of play equates to winning. I think the team would be better with either Deon Williams or Jameer in his place.

Reggie Jackson is terrible, and i don't think we have the assets to get Bledsoe unless the Suns really don't care.
And to be honest, we want Bledsoe to do what we want Jrue to do, so what is Jrue going to do if we get Bledsoe?

If we get Bledsoe, Jrue can play off the ball more, concentrating on scoring and defense. This is Holiday's natural position, this is why the Pels paid him. He's like the #7 or 8 SG in the league.
Bledsoe would be the primary ball-handler and distributer. He's a top 10 PG in a PG driven league. His aggressiveness (on offense) will cover up some of Jrue's flaws. This will also protect us if Rondo's injury lingers.
