Sixth could be just as good depending on the matchup.

Doesn’t matter. We are playing Portland in any scenario, either as the 5 or 6 seed depending on DEN/MIN and UTA/POR.

Three team ties are treated differently. If Utah wins we are the 5 seed playing Portland who gets the 4. We would have the three team tie breaker over OKC for the 5 seed because Portland is involved in the tie.
If Portland wins, we become the 6 seed and play 3 seed Portland. This is because OKC would jump us due to the three team tie breaker involving Utah.
It all has to do with combined winning percentage vs. teams that you are tied with in a three way tie.
