re: Disastrous night for the tank

I'm so glad that someone eventually pointed this out. Our future is determined by a lot more than the draft. Every season ticket that's sold makes this a better franchise. Winning games the way we have at the end of the season is a strong indicator to free agents that a healthy New Orleans will be a playoff team next year.
I guess the fact that I realize that the future success of the team is dependent on more than the draft makes me a "simpleton," but whatever.
Having said that, I agree with the "win at home, tank on the road" strategy. I'm not arguing that we should win every game, only that the extreme tankards aren't seeing the whole picture.
I see the picture, and I think the Hornets do to. That's why they are playing Gordon at home and resting him on the road. I still would rather not sweat draft position though.

You might not be sweating if you knew you had a handshake deal with the commissioner. "You're one player away". There are so many reasons for Stern to want the Hornets to get the 1st pick. If rigging happens I think the Hornets have it in the bag.

We seriously fricked up the tank. We're missing a wheel and running low on fuel.
It's ok. Stern got this.
Besides, we all know this team is WAY too good to be 3rd worst. It's pretty miraculous we've held on this long. Stern will reward us.

I joke about the cold envelope all the time. But the fact of the matter is (and of course you know this), the draft isn't rigged. I wish it was, but it isn't.

idk last year kinda got me thinkin.....
it was just too much of a coincidence

I don't think that's an established fact. I just played the ESPN lottery machine 20 times and over 75% of the time a bottom 5 team won. That doesn't line up exactly with the 81% odds the bottom 5 has, but it's a lot closer than the last 7 years I posted earlier where 3 out of 7 winners (43%) were the bottom 5. Yes we are looking at an arbitrary time period with a small sample size, but that still seems significantly out of line with the odds.

Sometimes when things seem like too much of a coincidence, they are still a coincidence.
No matter what, everyone will say the lottery is rigged. I saw some national media pundits talking about it, and they basically said they can come up with "rigged" for half the teams in the lottery (Nets moving to Brooklyn, Us getting bought and owned by league, Kings because of Arena issue, Bobcats being owned by the league's greatest player and desperately needing a star, etc).
The fact of the matter is, all of the teams have representatives at the lottery, and there are too many people involved to keep that a secret. Way too many. And Ernst & Young is a bigger entity than the NBA itself, they would have too much to lose.
It isn't rigged...but I'll continue to joke about it being rigged in our favor.

Everything that's a "coincidence" is something that, by definition, is unlikely to happen.
We often are stunned when someone has the same birthday or we're on vacation in another state and see one of our friends, etc. Each time something like that happens, it is statistically extrememly unlikely. But try to imagine the odds of there never being any "coincidences." It is extremely likely that some very unlikely things will happen to you.
If you flip a coin and get heads four times in a row, the probability of that happening is 1/16, but the probability of getting heads on the next flip is still 1/2. Tails isn't "due" (wish I could explain that concept to baseball fans).
As stated, all lottery teams have reps at the lotto, and there are a lot of reasons that it would be almost impossible for Stern to rig it even if he wanted to.

Roughly translated "How dare you think this out logically and not just lash out based off your emotions"

This is a time for joy. No need for divisiveness.
By the way, losing the coin flip with the Cavs won us the lotto.
