Lonzo is getting paid 21 million plus.
Graham is getting literally half.
I know hinke died for y’all’s sins and everything but the name of the game isn’t collecting picks— it’s putting together a cohesive running team without DAMAGING the long term.
Next years non lottery pick is likely an end of the bench player at best.
Graham is really good. The combo of cheap salary and the lottery protection makes this a fricking steal

First of all, it’s more than slight in my opinion.
2nd, did we need MASSIVE UPGRADES this off-season if you believe in Zion and other young guys? What about just improving fit?
Who could they have gotten that would have been some, massive upgrade?
Just having a team that can protect/maintain second half leads will significantly improve this year's results. Last year's Pels blew so many.

Assuming another team wasn’t going to also try to get him and the hornets bid him up

At 12 million they mightve. And maybe you give up the puck to get the deal done so you can start working on filling out the rest of the roster.

So does Lonzo..
Do you know the dickhead that represents Lonzo? If his player wants out, he has zero class. He has no bounds for getting players out of places that they don’t want to be. Lonzo obviously didn’t want to be here, and we don’t want someone here who doesn’t want to be here.

quote:Exactly. Some on this board will go out of their way to justify and and every move. Many of the same posters were telling us how great a move it was last year to give up a 1st and multiple 2nds for Adams.
Having lots of picks should never be a reason to value your picks as lesser.

quote:It as said for this deal, it was 100% said when we gave up a 1st for Adams, and even though liked the deal overall, it was said in the Jval trade when we gave up the Lakers 1st.
Its very surreal to hear people trying to justify the shedding of draft capital as largely consequence-less
That's 3 1sts we've given up, how many do we have to lose before it's not so inconsequential... Especially when 2 of those should likely not have needed a 1st and the 3rd was to undo the mistake previously made when we added the dude by giving up a 1st.

Lonzo -
Coddled his entire career
Overinflated sense of self worth
Can’t drive or get to the line.
Terrified of taking a big shot.
Garbage in the half court.
Overrated defender.
One of the worst finishers I’ve ever seen at his size
Legion of moron fans
Stupidest dad of all time
Repped by lebron frick boy jersey seller
Wants to be in a big market
And as a bonus, I’m happy not to see his ugly arse mug anymore.
Vs
Solid locker room guy
2nd rounder who over performed his draft status
Makes huge clutch shots and isn’t scared
Can get to the line
Happy to be here
Makes half as much for better production
Why are we melting?

Oh by all means let’s keep these middling first rounders and then not be able to sign a PG like Lowry Conley Paul Dinwiddie and just strike the frick out.

There was no need to give up any 1st. How many of all of the S&Ts gave up a 1st? Was Griffin able to pull a 1st from Chicago when it was known that they needed to shed about $10 million in the deal? We helped them for a 2nd. The Hornets drafted Bouknight. They were not going to re-sign Graham.
It is hilarious to me that people don’t understand this.
I’m sorry, it’s fricking retarded that people don’t understand this.

Right and if Charlotte was playing hardball, Make a call to Kendrick Nunn. Same player, if not arguably better than Devonte and Heat have zero leverage even though they technically own Nunn’s rights.
Tossing a first in, protected or not, was asinine.
Add in the fact that we could have drafted Ayo or Butler at pick 35 instead of Herb and maybe taken Herb if still available or a cheap young stretch big at 43 (which our roster is missing).

It's absurd to think that doesn't matter at all.

Graham can’t finish either. 71% of his shots come from 3 and when he drives to 0-3 ft range (only 7.5% of his attempts), he finishes at an astonishingly poor 44% rate.

No we understand. But we also understand that picks 15-30 end up in the G League and we signed a fringe starting PG who doubles as one of the best shooters on the team, who also possesses C and S ability (one of the most coveted abilities in the league) and aren’t going to handwringing Bc we want to beat Sam Presti in the pick wars.

I don't disagree seeing what we just paid Graham and what Caruso got. My 2 questions are can we get someone at 10 mil on a 1 year deal that is as good of a fit as Sato? Having an expiring gives us the flexibility for trades and next years off-season. And I love Sato's fit as a combo guard who contributes offensively and defensively. Right now we only have 1 true PG and both NAW and Graham are offensive-minded.

People thought there was a legit chance we'd do Lonzo S&T for Brogdon. The moment we got Sato and a 2nd, those same people pointed out you don't get much in return with S&Ts, then those same people defended giving up the 1st in the S&T for Graham. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Gotta hope Griffin has some big move lined up that we did not expect. We still have a ton of room under the tax. It would have to be via trade as there are not really any big free agents that would really constitute such a move.
