New Orleans will re-sign forward Dante Cunningham on a three-year, $9 million deal, league source tells RealGM. Third year player option.

Wow awesome contract. 3 mil per is a complete steal with the way the market has been this year. Great to have DC back.

Good story with Dante Cunningham in NOH. Couldn't get a job after being falsely accused, played for the minimum and cashes in on a nice deal

That's basically the minimum in 2 years. Damn.

So we have 2.4 million to spend. Then minimum contracts. I assume we don't use the BAE this year.

We aren't getting anyone for 2.4 considering a very marginal player like DC got 3.

So, trotting out the same lineup, no changes except vet minimums.

As I said elsewhere, they've always planned to roll with what they have going into the season. Then we'll see what happens in January or so.

I m obviously sighing heavily right now.

I like Dante. But it's not like this team won 55 games and took the 1st round series to 7. We'll see I guess.

If they eventually want to sign He Tianju, do they have to use the BAE?

except we'll have our better line-up that we had for less than half the season last season

Jrue, EG, AD, Asik... Pondexter, Cole, Cunningham, Ajinca

I think everyone agrees the additions of Q-Pon & Cole midway through the season made us considerably better... and maybe we'll FINALLY have a healthy Jrue

Depends on what they do with the rest of the MLE.

Yeah, better phrasing of the question would have been, do they have to use an exception to sign He?

I would think so. The rookie minimum would be $525k. I don't know how much he makes in China but he was an All Star there so I assume it might take more than the rookie minimum to get him to come over which means using an exception.

That lineup got swept Round 1. I'm just playing devils advocate here.

@BobbyMarks42: Signing Cunningham at $3m protects NOP from becoming a hard capped team. If you use the rest of the ML or bi-annual you are hard capped.

Not sure we can do anything besides minimum deals unless the cap number is higher come the 9th...

by probably the best team in the NBA in the last decade-plus... and now 1 of that team's coaches is our new head coach

also... I think we gave GSW would say we gave them a heck of a series even though we didn't get any Ws

and health... everything falls back on health (Jrue was basically limping around for 30 minutes a game in that series)

Healthy Jrue makes a huge difference in the lineup, doesn't it?

Swept by the NBA champions at least...historically good team

Is this another way of saying that we are up against the tax? I'm not sure what this guy is saying tbh.
