Call me crazy but I think Cheick is going to play an absolutely huge role next year, which could end up being a major part in the Pels getting even better.

I may be hoping for too much from him but let’s compare him to our good friend Draymond.

13-14 Warriors - 6 seed - Lost in first round to Clippers
Draymonds 2nd season had a PER of 12.7 averaged 6.2 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 1.9 APG, 1.2 SPG, 0.9 BPG

14-15 Warriors - 1 seed - NBA champions
Draymonds 3rd season had a PER of 16.4 averaged 11.7 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.6SPG, 1.3 BPG

17-18 Pelicans - 6 seed - Lost in 2nd round to Warriors
Cheicks 2nd season had a PER 17.0 averaged 4.9 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 0.4 APG, 0.2 SPG, 0.4 BPG

Diallo is 21, Draymond was 23 in his second season so the jump Draymond made from year 2 to 3 may be a little tough for Diallo but I can definetly see a huge improvement.

Another comparison Diallo was drafted #33, Draymond #35.

But I can’t take for granted that Draymond did have a coaching change from year 2 to 3, soemthing Diallo will not.

However a Pels fan can hope for a improvement in play for Diallo like Draymond had in 14-15 right?

C'mon man. this is just retarded.

I hope he's good enough to give us quality minutes as a backup to AD and Niko until Cousins comes back, at which point he needs to be traded as an asset that could bring something back or help facilitate some other trade by being an asset.

Diallo played in a little over half the games this year averaging 11 MPG. I think the goal for next year shouldn't be some Points/Rebounding/PER target, but being good enough to earn 15-20 minutes every game.

diallo is too goofy/spastic to be the facilitator or enforcer that green is.
he can however MAYBE be what aminu was...a small ball PF who can defend and rebound and MAYBE develop an outside shot (call me crazy but his mechanics look good)

This means absolutely nothing fwiw

Draymond was a much more polished player in the 13-14 season. Dray’s passing ability is what really sets him apart. You can run a whole offense through him out of the high post.

Cheick Diallo is a center. He just needs time to develop and get stronger. Think Clint Capela

Capela's skillet has always been the same. Rim protector and p&r, he just significantly improved at them over the years.

Diallo's skillet is an athletic, skinny big. So effort rebounding and a solid touch on his shot. He doesn't have the iq to be a rim protector or elite defender, and unfortunately he may never develop it.

Diallo needs to bulk up and learn to play basketball. He is very limited in what he brings and his basketball IQ does not appear to be very high based on his play.
