According to H24, anyway.

I'm thinking Stern just doesn't want to make this too obvious.

That's really crummy news. Doesn't appreciably change our chance of landing in the top three, but means we pick later if we don't.

ETA: It's not an extra ball. It's 1 combination out of 1000.

There's usually at least one middle team that jumps up so we either win the lottery or we'll probably be picking 5th. The perfect spot to feel compelled to take Andre Drummond

I have a feeling Drummond goes before 5. I'm worried we get stuck with Barnes.

I'd rather not spend the #5 pick on a backup.

No. We are #4, but 1, 2, and 3 never win the lottery together, so the odds are high that if we don't win a top 3 spot we will get bumped at least one spot lower because someone behind us jumps into the top 3. I haven't run the numbers but I'm pretty sure the most likely outcome if we don't win is picking 5th.

42 over at 247 has run the numbers, LINK

Here are our odds for each slot:

1 - 13.7%
2 - 14.16%
3 - 14.47%
4 - 8.51%
5 - 32.31%
6 - 15.58%
7 - 1.27%

So the most likely outcome is 5th and the least likely outcome is going to 7 followed closely by staying at 4.
