Outside of the draft how much money do we have to spend and who are free agents?

How much destruction can Demps do?

$35m + whatever Goose made, but that's assuming Gordon takes the qualifying offer. At about $45m if Gordon extends. The salary cap is going to be around $60m, then the luxury tax will kick in around $70m. We'll have a good bit of space to make moves, but it depends on what the new owners are willing to do.

ETA: I see drake's link has Goose down at $1.5m, so there you go.

ETA2: Less whatever the draft pick costs are, but we obviously don't know where that's going to be. I'd say +$6m total. That would put us at about $8m below the cap.

there's differences in numbers between the two links. what's that all about? It says that Goose is making about 1.6 M this season btw.

Yeah, it's easy to forget that we overpaid Landry this season to get over the floor. We shouldn't resign him, so that alone is $8.5 freed up. That can go a long way. I think you'll see another year with a couple of short/bigger contracts to meet cap requirements with such a young roster.

After resigning Gordon and getting the 2 lottery picks, they will be in $49-$50 million area of payroll- assuming no guys on the books next season are moved in the next few weeks.

Cap will be $58 again next year, floor will be $48.

There aren't many big FA this off-season, which is fine. The Hornets need to complement EG and the lotto picks. Depending on the draft they will probably sign a backup G or backup C

Based on how Demps rolls and who's available, I think he'll go after Mahinmi if Dallas doesn't make much of an effort to resign him because they get busy going after bigger targets. I really wouldn't expect Demps to make any splashy signings because going after someone like Batum or Wilson Chandler like so many want would require both overpaying and dumping a perfectly adequate Ariza for pennies on the dollar.

Cosign all of that

Hornets are in good cap shape now and for the next few years. They don't need to screw it up for a borderline playoff team.

Should have about 28M before resignings, depending on if the cap doesn't drop.

The 35 million doesn't include Gordon's qualifying offer. They are at 35 counting Girdon as zero. So add 13 million to resign him and that puts us at 48. Add about 2 million for goose and we are at 50 million already.

You're right about the qualifying offer. I missed that. That does change things a bit. Probably looking at $3-$4 million for FA instead of $8. Not awful, but not as good as I thought. Can still sign a backup big or guard at that price
