Can we just give Point Zion the ball?

Let him figure this stuff out and eat. It’s beyond ridiculous at this point. He should be making everyone else’s life easier, but instead we insist on making his life harder.

All this fan base does is eat crazy pills. This organization is successfully challenged.

I have been yelling this all off-season……we have……and he had 6 turnovers and 7 made shots Sunday night. He’s not producing right now unfortunately. Not in the way he has in the past at least.

Yep. Somehow they need to work in a lot more point Zion. Can't be all the time but about twice as much as they do. He also needs to clean up his handle a lil bit. Last year it was about this time of the season he did.(his handle)

I think his sudden turnovers has alot to do with the big wrap on his right thumb.

He didn’t turn the ball over once in the two games before the injury, the two games after is where he’s gotten the turnovers, so that bandage has to be the only explanation

Remember the OKC game where we actually put shooters around him all game long? And went with CJ, Hawkins, Matt Ryan, Herb, and JV lineup? Dude damn near had a triple double.

Mindset matters. Our team goes into every game wondering if Zion and Ingram can figure out how to share the ball. We should be going into every game figuring out how Zion can unlock the best version of this team.

No Dought. That's just physics. But in general, his handle improves the more game reps he gets.

Most of his turnovers are due to him trying to score. He generally pretty good protecting the ball when he's creating for his teammates.

Zion is top 11 in iso attempts and of those top 11 he’s first or 2nd in turnovers.

This idea that we take our 285 pound forward/center and treat him like a point guard is silly. He’s a forward with some ball handing skills for his size, but I wouldn’t say he’s a good ball handler or passer compared to guards. Zion is not Giannis, and even Giannis needs good point guards.

And yet he isn't even in the top 20 in turnovers. He'll even Gianni's turns the ball over at a higher rate. Zion averaginf 2.9 turnovers a game is not bad considering he's pressuring the rim 90% of time.

He’s much twitchier than Giannis for one. Zion has all the physical tools to be a great PG. He will be quicker than almost every defender put on him 1v1 because you can’t stick a 200 lb defensive stopper on him. Which should mean getting to his spots on the floor quicker and opening up easier passing lanes. He’s got the athleticism to use it to enhance his passing in midair. Something Lebron was able to do really well.

It is simply about putting the ball in the hands of your best player, allowing him to draw guys into his orbit, and creating easier shots. Jokic is a Point Center.

Reps. Reps. Reps. This shouldn’t look this clunky. Not by a long shot.

I’d also add that teams are using a 3 man wall on the man on defense. 3. Dudes. That shows you what the rest of the league thinks about Zion. They’re probably enjoying us not unleashing the dude.

Literally almost half of his turnovers have been in the two games since his thumb injury.

He has 23 total turnovers, 11 came in the last two games

Plus zion passes well when he sees that wall. Give him the keys and ride or die with him. He is supposed to be the man let him do his thing

They do need to start feeding him more. I’m interested Zion is so much better than a Zion that is just there.

I don't think feeding him more is the issue. He has enough usage. It's the way they're feeding him. All the post ups are nonsense and too many touches on the elbow. They need to keep him at the top of the key where he can survey the entire floor and allow him to have a running start.

There are games where he's not getting touches for long periods of time and some games where he only has 2FGs at the half. While some of it is on him, the staff has to do a better job of running plays to get him the ball without the long periods of standing around.

I don't necessarily think the staff has maximized his usage and that's one of the issues.

Exactly, the Advocate beat writer pushed back on his "I'm taking a back seat in the offense" quote by pointing out that his shots per game and usage percentage this year is higher than it was last year.

Teams have just adjusted and schemed better and Zion has not and rather seems to prefer to sit back and fuss at the refs for not calling a foul.

His usage rate is the same, but the way he’s being used is not. Thats what Zion meant

Just like the start of last year they’ve done too many post ups trying to get Zion to fit the offense rather than the other way around. Posting up Zion just limits his options and reduces his space and he’s not nearly as efficient at it.
