I wonder how accurate that $5.5 mil number was a couple weeks back. That would basically mean we are hiring an up and coming assistant. But I would have to believe they would have expected a name like this to become available at some point as well, who would obviously require a bigger salary.

We gotta stop acting like we are all high and mighty. Like the Bucks were the best team in the league the last 2 years. They went up on Toronto 2-0 and then the Klaw took over. And this year they didn’t even get to have home advantage and looked bad the whole restart. Bud has had more success in Atlanta and Milwaukee than the Pelicans have ever had. We’ve been to the Semis twice since the team has been in New Orleans. He’s brought Milwaukee to the Semis twice in the last two years. Like y’all are looking for a home rum hire that will win us a championship. Can we first start with winning games? Like we’ve been over .500 twice in the last 7 years.

I’m not a Bud fan, but with a team with a consistent injury bug, and a star that struggles with conditioning, maybe spreading the minutes might help. Like he’s won with two different franchises, and you don’t want him as the head coach of a losing franchise.

I think it is because he is not a very good coach.

Nope. They have been paying the luxury tax every year, but it doesn't make sense to do that when you aren't really a contender. Paying the tax to fight to win a first-round series isn't a good business decision.

Has to be #1 choice. It’s unlikely he would want to come here given the amount of control this FO would want to exert.

But if all things are equal. He is the guy. He’s a damn good coach imo.

Will his offense be dynamic enough though? I get that a lot of what I am about to say has to do with the personnel he had in place at the star player spots, but his offense has just been a lot of Iso ball.

I read that he couldn’t implement his offense from Florida because of Russell Westbrook. This was the first season since he’s been a coach in the NBA where his offense actually resemble the one he’s known for at Florida.

Did it though? Because OKC's offense was a lot of 1-on-1 this season. Granted, that should be expected when it is a team led by Chris Paul, as he is an offensive coordinator all by himself. All I am saying is I have no idea is Billy is a good X's and O's coach because he has never really had the chance to prove it. I do agree he is a good coach. I'm just not sure if he is a top of the league guy.

Shams is reporting that OKC offered a significant contract extension Pre-Bubble, but Donovan did not accept.

Sounds like he just wanted to move on.
