Not exactly. SGA keeps developing and they get anything for CP and they're still pretty decent with plentiful future assets.

Maybe the flattened lottery odds make it ok to be Kings/Suns level bad, stuck in the 5-9 spot every year, but it seems like they really should tank.

SGA as your best player is doomed to fail see the Jimmy Butler Bulls and the Paul George Pacers. And that's being generous to SGA assuming he can become a top 15 player. He's good but that's a hard mountain to climb.

They’ll sell everything they can but SGA.

I like him, not sure I'm that high on him yet(could be persuaded though).

I'd probably put him a little outside the top ten, maybe toward 15, and I'm not sure that is enough for me to throw the bank at a guy.

I like him more than Kenny by a decent bit. Idk if he’s a must get at all costs kind of coach but I’m definitely interested. I know thunder fans were frustrated with him at times. But seems like every team hates their coach at some point or another.

Yeah, I'm not opposed, my quick ranking more says how good the top 10-12 in this league are more than it is meant to disparage Donovon.

I do think of the vets out there, you are going to have to hope for either a Carlisle type leap or look toward the high upside/high bust first-time coach pool if your goal is to break that top 10.

Issue with Donovan is will he be okay with doing everything Griff wants him to do in regard to staff changes or retainings as well as culture. I’d guess no he wouldnt

Or arguably going from a 4 to 6 year rebuild to a 1-3 year rebuild.

Which is how I suspect most candidates see us.

True I just question if Donovan and Griff would be on the same page with how this team should be molded and what culture they want

Oh, I agree with your take. That was just an additional side thought really.

Source tells @TheAthletic that Billy Donovan, who has parted ways with OKC, is expected to be a candidate for the Sixers’ opening. Clippers asst. Ty Lue, as has been reported, also among the candidates.

The Chicago Bulls are expected to have an interest in considering Donovan for the franchise’s head coaching job, sources tell ESPN. The Bulls are just completing a first-round of interviews with several candidates.

Dammit why can’t we get little updates on our coaching search too. But the Bulls job seems like just as big of a rebuild as the thunder.

It's probably a good thing that our search has no leaks, but it makes it boring for us as fans.

Ain’t a peep leaking out about ours after the initial “Kidd and Lue” stuff.

Either we are keeping it VERY close to the vest or Griffin was 100% serious about no rush and we haven’t even started interviewing yet.

Donovan is a good coach, but I don't know if this is the right time for him here. He might expect the Pelicans to accelerate the timeline, and then we could make the same mistakes the franchise made with AD.

with the league delaying the draft/FA period even further, we might be waiting a while for a hiring to officially happen

We aren’t going to change our timeline for Billy Donovan. He will know what it is and he can choose to coach here, or not.

Griffin is not going to hire someone that isn’t 100% buy in. He’s made that very clear.

Said it during Griffin's presser, but I think he told us what was up when he slipped and said the candidates were in the bubble, then quickly corrected himself.
