Yup. Donovan would technically be in that category.

Coaches I can think of offhand that would have fit that at the time:

Donovan
Kidd
Lue
Ham
Unseld
Udoka
Craig
Griffin
D’Antoni

And the candidate is now in the ECF.

Yeah, that seemed like a classic Freudian slip, did we ever figure out who would be on the possible all bubble list as of that presser? I guess any assistant on a playoff team, really.

EDIT: Fun has the list

If nothing else, Donovan might push one of our candidates down to us.

Lue for example, whether we like him or not, might be sitting on that Philly job with us as a backup. If they swoop in for Donovan, he falls in our laps and with less contract leverage.

What if Bucks fire Bud so they can hire Donovan?

A lot of dominoes could fall here.

Bunchie I was literally about to post same. Already talk of Bucks pursuing CP3. Bud failing to get to finals could have them move on.

In that case I’d be happy as hell to go get Bud

He’d go to Philly imo. I’m not a big Bud guy for us. The lack of minutes he continues to give his MVP during these playoffs is alarming. Even during the season it would cause the same issues for playoff time with lack of experience playing 38+ Minutes. We saw it this series with Giannis huffing and puffing when he’s playing 36minutes.

Fair enough my #1 guy is still Dan Craig unless Billy Donovan wants to come here

And the way Griff explained how he wanted to go about this process of finding a coach, it seems like he’s not gonna go with any of the big fish out there who would want to have a lot of control with how they want to do things.

Sounds like he wants someone that’ll bring daily culture and accountability until our young guys are mature enough to handle it themselves...again, to me, that’s a Dan Craig or David Vanterpool

Discussions between OKC management and Donovan were described as "collaborative" and "realistic." Donovan will become a significant coaching candidate in the NBA marketplace.

That tweet to me stuck out from Woj.

"realistic" means that OKC has said they are going into full on tank mode and Donovan isn't interested in that. They will be selling everything but SGA if they can.

Also online...a LOT of OKC fans and NBA fans in general just did not think very highly of him. OKC fans seem to think he's just not a very good coach and underachieved until this year.

Underachieved? With that roster? He may have overachieved if anything.

"until this year"

They think he underachieved in the past with Russ/PG etc. and was a pretty bad playoff coach. A huge contingent of OKC fans seem to think that CP3 got Donovan paid big time.

The more I see fan reaction the more I’m beginning to question my perception of him.

I always thought he was a damn good coach.

Okc fans in general seem to think otherwise. That he is a relatively good regular season coach and nothing more, and a terrible postseason coach.

Sorry, must have overlooked that part of your comment.

I’ve noticed though that every teams fan base has negative opinions about their former head coach. Atkinson, Brown, Donovan, and if Bucks do fire Bud, him as well. Can’t take all of these opinions as scripture. But I don’t think any of these coaches are obvious choices or must gets in comparison to some of the assistant coaches or Weaver

I am so curious about who the next coach is going to be. For me, it will tell a lot about what Griffin's philosophy is going forward. It is really fascinating to me.
