This is awesome and you clearly put alot of time and thought into it.

We have young talent and the difference makers will be gone by the time we draft. I still think we’d be better off trading the pick for someone who can help now. But if we draft, I think it’s a good opportunity for front court depth. Guys like Nandi, Lively and Clowney have a chance to be decent rotational bigs and will be available late in the first round. My thought is trade back, get a first round pick, and draft a big. Then use that extra pick to get more depth in the front court since we can’t depend on Zion. All this is much easier said than done though.

These comps are projecting the greatest class of all time, by far

Respectfully disagree that there won't be players worth drafting at 14, or even if we trade back as you suggested, and im not someone who values a project. I'm not really a fan of our young talent over a lot of this draft other than Murphy and Herb. Guys like Naji Kira and Jaxson, even Jose and Dyson are inferior imo to a lot of the draft and definitely the nba field. i dont think we should even be picking up Kira's option or tendering/matching an offer to Jax, for example. But if its bigs you like, that 2nd Tier of PFs is really where the money is, lot to love there with Trayce Jackson-Davis being my favorite, also Kris Murray and GG Jackson. For Centers can't go wrong with that 2nd tier either: James Nnaji, Adem Bona, Daron Holmes, and Dereck Lively. A few of those will be there in the 2nd no doubt

really going for strengths and style of play, dont mean to project the same impact in the league as the comp; too many variables and mental makeup differences and stuff. I'd never claim all these guys are gonna hit

great work.

rivals the great preseason football analysis we get.

if your comps are close for the top 14 it will be the greatest class ever.

I'm still on the Gradey Dick train.

I saw too many games with Zion & BI out, and Trey having a cold 1st half, that I wished the Pels had another 3 pt scorer to quickly get us back in the game.

Great job! I don’t know much about the draft but is this a good draft? Also, how deep is the draft in terms of talent and depth?

I think comps are fine in general to get a sense of what a player is like. But taking to that next step, for example..

quote:

PG Scoot Henderson (better Westbrook)

That just seems a bit extra.

quote:

12 PG Amen Thompson (faster Scottie Barnes/Jalen Green)

Are you really this low on Amen? Almost every mock I'm seeing him in has him at #4..

thanks, personally i think there are about 45 players i'd put a 1st round grade on, over a handful being projects that may be less enticing than the rest for that reason. The rest of the bunch seem like standard 2nd rounders, role players, some with a little potential

I wouldn't say im low on Amen, just higher on those other guys, but i did notice i differed heavily there from other mocks. I like Ausar better for instance because though he has less skill and playmaking on the ball than Amen, he is the more savvy well rounded contributor off ball and defensively and the better shooter i think, and still has great playmaking, just makes the simple play. You can't go wrong either way, right? i just prefer the less ball dominant player in todays NBA i guess.I compared Ausar to Jalen Brown who i think is a force making simple plays,I think Amen would be more prone to dazzling but less efficient play

I appreciate the work you obviously put into this.

I do have a question in particular about Scoot

What makes him more of a Westbrook comp than a Dennis Smith Jr comp?

Admittedly I haven’t seen him play (much); but his numbers and Efficiency are a bit concerning in the g league. He’s got nba fringe journeymen outperforming him numbers wise by a pretty large margin.

Not trying to be disrespectful bc I haven’t done my deep dive on the Scoot film or this draft class yet. And when I do, I tend to focus on International and college prospects. I find the G League/Overtime elite scenes hard to get a read on bc it largely feels like playground style basketball.

I share your concern somewhat about Scoot, but there is a lot that jumps out that you can't teach to me as well. He has great vision for one, great at creating for others. He is big and gets downhill but is very fluid, he maintains vision and drives with purpose, great at drop offs, awesome at anything change of pace. The things he's not that good at yet you can get better at over time, i think. There is an element of some potential once better at those things that moves him up a couple spots over some solid contributors imo, but i admittedly rather take complete players now, which is why i wouldnt be as excited taking him as a few others personally, but it may be one of those things where you have to do it. Luckily we won't have that problem lol

Would you trade BI for Scoot, Sharpe, and Simons?

Great job on this. Good to see someone else so high on Coulibaly and especially Cissoko. Although at 6'7 and strong, wide body, Cissoko is more of a SF/PF type. I'd be pumped if Pels drafted him as a wildcard upside swing.

We need to pick up this guy just to make the poster who was always starting threads about Christian Wood happy. Is that guy still around?

scoot is good. Crazy athleticism, finishing around rim. Really good midrange p&r game, plays hard on D. He showed improvement with his perimeter shot. Plays with a ton of energy. The Westbrook comp is solid

His combine was concerning for a lottery pick, specifically the combination of short arms (he has good height but his standing reach doesn’t match), and lack of vertical.

He did have a good shuttle, but that lack of length/vertical will limit him to being a catch and shoot guy, with minus defense. That’s not a combo that screams lottery pick to me.

After the combine I still like Kris Murray, his 8’10” standing reach is solid for a PF, particularly a shooter, and his frame should allow him to fill out as well.

Leonard Miller did well IMO, he isn’t quite as big as listed, but he has good length and showed his athleticism. His size/skill combo is nice.

Oscar Tschibwe was longer than I expected, as was Kobe Brown. Really like Kobe Brown’s development…improved a ton, turned into a 40%+ outside shooter, while maintaining his physical presence on the court. Another guy that could be a below the rim banging 4/5 that keeps the floor spaced.
