how deep is the draft in terms of talent and depth?

only a few can shoot.
the mid sized ones who are decent defenders can't dribble.

its very difficult at pels pick 14. the bigger dukie is interior defender with no offense game away from basket . like goebert.

He may have some semblance of a small offensive game. Supposedly he has a decent short to midrange game, but his game thus far has been exclusively defense. Worth a shot at 14.

So far for in the playoffs, The team with the higher 3-point % has gone 61-15.

But let’s draft a big who isn’t known to shoot and really didn’t do a ton at Duke.

At 14, what do you expect to get? At least Lively could fill a role that the team needs an do so at a reasonable salary. Will we find a dead eye shooter at 14 that gets playing time? Highly doubt Dick makes it to 14. Maybe Hawkins makes it there and you take a chance on him that he will be a prolific 3 point shooter?

It really depends on how much they value these bigs who hasn't shown stretch ability. Some of them are going to be 1 dimensional. The team may feel like they can get that in free agency especially if they want a big for depth.

As far as a shooter goes, the obvious choice is Hawkins. He's got the best shooting package we've seen in years. Some people don't love him because he's already polished at what he does and doesn't have the sexy upside.

I can imagine CJ, Hawkins, BI, Trey, and Zion on the court for maximum spacing. That's the kind of scoring we've envisioned for years now.

I like Hawkins well enough. Not certain he makes it to 14. I do not see him as the deadeye shooter Dick is. He is very inefficient at this point, but with structure could be a nice player. He is streaky and does not like to pass the ball. He also needs to put on some muscle.

58% of his shots are from 3. He's very efficient there especially off the C&S. UCONN plays him primarily on the perimeter so his inefficiency overall makes sense when you look at raw numbers. The guy shoots off of movement, screens, relocation, multiple actions, DHO, off the dribble, in transition, and he runs around the court all game long. That requires a lot of stamina. You don't see guys with that type of shooting package out of college. The last one was probably Hield.

He also has better burst and athleticism than Dick. But more like a smaller package Trey. Dick shooting potential is Hawkins in a nutshell. But as a more well rounded player especially with his length and finishing ability at the basket. Dick has more upside overall but he isn't a better shooter than Hawkins right now based on the difficulty Hawkins is shooting at. Most guys don't reach that level.

Just looked it up, Hawkins shot 49.4% off of the catch and shoot. That's elite.
