It's pretty standard practice.
I think what's different here is the Lakers were already on the tampering radar for the Paul George incident that got them fined a whopping $500,000. Then they skated close enough to the line with AD a few months ago that it pissed off half the small market teams and forced the league to send out a memo that basically said "Seriously guys, stop tampering."

They both could have in the last two years

But that was Magic doing the definition of tampering on national TV. This is Lebron's shadow but obviously direct involvement with an agency that the league really can't do anything about.

I think that's why the tweet said AD was the one that might get fined. He's tampering with himself I guess
I doubt a $50,000 fine on AD matters much to anybody involved in all of this. I think bringing it up and possibly even fining AD is more like "Mom make him stop" "Earvin tell your friends to stop hitting Dell."
ETA, now that I think about it more. AD publicly stating a preferred destination when he's not even a free agent is technically tampering. This could just be laying the ground work with the league office to make a Lakers only demand not happen, or if it does happen maybe you can get some sort of compensation out of it.

depending wheee the knicks pick is, I don’t think we get both Knox AND porzingis
We wouldn’t know where the Knicks pick lands as a Knicks deal would likely happen before the deadline this year imo. Knox is NOT a Jamal Murray or Jayson Tatum type piece. He’s being extremely overrated on this board. I would do KP, Knox, and their first though before any Lakers deal. I’d actually highly consider that this year before the deadline instead of waiting on Boston, where AD could put the axe to that trade or water down what we get back.
It also allows us to suck for the rest of this year and tank, giving us two top 10 picks in the upcoming draft. Davis alone isn’t enough to drag them out of the hole they climbed into. It’s lrobably a top 5 pick at worst.

I like that deal. And if they feel Davis will give them five years they will do it.

Yep blow this shite show up. You may never get another chance as this with personnel and picks. Could be fun

I see Niko and Randle being on the block as the Pelicans potentially trading one of the two and trying to keep the other one in FA unless you’re able to get good offers on both.
Posted on 1/28/19 at 6:52 pm to ShamelessPel
If knicks deal gets offered and thats the deal they want they should pull the trigger and get it done. Helps them tank and improve their own pick and also lets not act like its impossible for Davis to get a major injury. Happens all the time, Victor, Hayward, George, KP so dont say its impossible.

Pels should leak talk of asking warriors about draymond green’s availability for Anthony Davis.
Posted on 1/28/19 at 7:28 pm to ShamelessPel
I kind of want to keep Randle and Payton and build a deep team. I saw in one of the threads earlier today, someone say New Orleans will never be a free agent destination for Superstars. So we should just build a a team like Memphis or Portland or Denver. With a bunch of really good b+ players. And no real Superstar.
Everybody else gets traded for draft picks.
We hire Sam Hinkie and tank for about 3 years in a row

Move the team to Seattle
What the hell is this crap, and why is it getting so many upvotes?
Last I checked, we had a local owner; a native committed to the area with deep pockets and a personal investment in the team (SHE frickin' picked the Pels color scheme). Why would she move the team?
It's too bad that Seattle lost the Sonics. But since those left coasters wouldn't foot the bill to replace an arena built for a World's Fair in 1962, that's what they got.

That sucks. I just found my AD cap this morning that my son had misplaced.

This at least has to be end of Demps and Alvin right?
How could they possibly survive this egg on their face.
No way ownership can keep them around.

the only way any of this works is if the current administration is gone.

then whats the point of having a team?
We are basically a farm team.

Sources: Should Lakers/Pelicans trade talks pick up, point guard Lonzo Ball's camp prefers Ball to be moved to a third team that doesn't have an established point guard.

That’s a big hell no to Ball! He sucks anyway.

Warriors will not lose until the super team gets broken up. Literally this entire league is a waste of time to even watch until that happens. Now is a good time to get rid of everybody and rebuild with young assets for when the league is ripe for take over.

Agreed. Trade Randle/Mirotic for a 1st. Hold AD out and tank. Get a top 8 pick regardless of trades with Boston and New York.
A trade with New York could yield us a franchise transforming player in Zion. But a trade with Boston could give us a young Spurs like team in 3-4 years.
