Hopefully they are just snatching up names that are on the long list to make sure they don't lose it later on.
Brass would be a somewhat of an FU to the NBA for not letting us have Jazz back.
The NBA should be behind rebranding the Jazz and giving us that name back along with giving charlotte the hornets back. That's 3 franchises with new rebranded merchandise sales.

If Benson really wants to fast track this I'd bet they are coming up with multiple proposals for the NBA marketing committee to choose from. We may need Stern to save us one more time (2 more times if you count the lottery).

If we're going to have a WNBA type name, take Battle and use it like people were suggesting with Krewe: The Battle of New Orleans. At least it was an actual event, and ... no, I've got nothing.

I think Spirits is actually a lot better.
Spirit is basically an inanimate object hovering over the city.
Spirits can be related to the drinks, and also ghosts. Yea ghosts are inanimate objects too, but better than just some spirit force.
At least with SpiritS, you have something you can actually associate with it (ghosts and drinks) instead of just an aura of the city.

Angels sucks
I like Spirits, since it has double meaning for the city. Spirit without the 's' is ok, but sounds too WNBAish.

I think they are probably scooping up available names.
They will then make an attempt to secure the rights to names that aren't available, so they have them all secured when they make a decision and go through a review process.
Film studios do it all of the time, even when they have no intention whatsoever of using the name.

Angels makes no sense you have the Saints. Baseball has Angels, be more unique. Spirits really sounds like a WNBA team.
