And ESPN still thinks the Laker haul would be better than a Knicks trade

It's strange to declare the Knicks slight "losers" for landing at No. 3 and the Lakers "winners" for rising from No. 11 to No. 4, but that assessment is correct. For all their flaws -- and perhaps too much has been made of those flaws considering the players' age -- the Lakers' young players have more combined trade value than Kevin Knox, Frank Ntilikina, Dennis Smith Jr. and Mitchell Robinson. (Does Robinson have the most trade value of those four guys? He might. He had the best 2018-19 season among them.)

The No. 3 pick in this draft plus all of those guys does not carry the same appeal as the No. 4 pick plus Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma. If the Davis sweepstakes still happens, the Lakers probably come out of the lottery ahead of Knicks on that front.

They have said they will never deal with the Lakers. But I think most are fooling themselves when they talk down the Lakers assets. Its just not true. The only valid concerns are how they fit together and Ingrams health..

not sure I agree there especially since we don’t know nearly enough about Ingram’s status.

Even if all of them were healthy, this is a set of players who couldn’t reach the playoffs next to LeBron.

It means that we may get more for chop shopping them than putting them on the court for us.

and the fact that those same pieces couldn't move the needle with Lebron, but are going to improve next to Zion...?

I think that is what it comes down to, how you value RJ(or Morant as I heard the Griz do value RJ). I honestly don't value him as highly as some clearly do.

But Boston still may be the best spot given the Memphis pick and them looking to be going into full rebuild mode. Tatum is a better player and was a better prospect coming out. You could conceivably come out of Boston with another top 5 pick in 2021, Jayson Tatum, and some combo of Smart and Brown. I'm not sure who beats that?

And from a culture perspective, Tatum and Brown did show earlier this season a seeming willingness to go somewhere like NOLA where they can take on a more leadership position than riding coattails in Boston.

If I remember right, Tatum's remarks about NOLA were something like: "I wouldn't mind going down there and being the face of that franchise"

which would now be: "sure i'll go down there and play second fiddle to a rookie"

Davis still has a lot of control on this trade.

The Lakers and Knicks packages are about equal.

Davis could come out an say he will test free agency unless dealt to the Lakers. At that point I would expect the Lakers to pull back Kuzma and the Knicks to pull back a few players as well.

These types of trades rarely produce all the young players going to one team as expected. I think the Celtics will not even offer Tatum unless Davis says he will sign long term prior to the trade.

I think it is down to three teams. The Lakers, Knicks, and Celtics. The Celtics were the big loser on draft lottery night. They got a bad Kings pick which looked a lot better a year and a half ago.

I think the Lakers and Boston package will send a message that they want to win ASAP. If they take the Knicks package, they’re basically saying they’re doing a slow rebuild.

With Holiday as a core piece, I would be suprised if they don’t prefer the Boston and Lakers assets. With Williamson secured, I don’t really care where they go as long as the trade favors the Pelicans. This team should have a massive overhaul by the end of the summer.

He wouldn't play second fiddle though.

He will be a third-year guy with deep playoff experience. In fact the most on the team.

He will be the first scorer on the team next season if he comes here for AD. The national spotlight will be on Zion, but the team will be running more through Tatum than Zion the first couple seasons.

I wouldn’t say “no shot”, but the chances are pretty damn low.

Frankly, I think there is a better chance of a dark horse partner like the Clip Show stepping in than the Lakers getting him.

If give the choice especially now with the #1 the Pels would like probably take less to move AD to East.

Blood clot is a HUGE concern with Ingram. That is something you can't rehab. There is no way to know how his body will react going forward. Ask Chris Bosh and Miami. Lonzo Ball has had real health concerns with his knee and ankle as well. Kuzma is good but his ceiling is not super high. The Knicks package is younger and holds a greater ceiling due to Barrett and Robinson.

Multiple sources have said that Chicago is trying to get Ball for their 1st round pick..LINK /.. That would be the #7 pick. Many other teams have offered their 1st rounders as well. Who on the Knicks would get that kind of value? Lots of people around the League love Ball. Gentry loves Ball. I get the crap about his dad, but the kid has talent and a ton of value still..
