This team is a pathetic FT shooting team, and yet, with Zion, we have already seen (and will continue to see) a drastic increase in FT attempts for this team.

Zion attracts a ridiculous amount of attention, and as a result, fouls follow. Which means this team will get into the bonus earlier and earlier. Pair that with Jaxson Hayes's ridiculous ability to draw fouls, and JJ's savvy play.

The difference in the Nuggets game was they went 20-20 from the line, and we shot like 56%. Versus the Celtics, we were in the bonus for almost the entire 3rd and may have been better off not being in it.

It has got to get better for us to win.

Zion's FTs just seem flat. Lots bouncing off the front of the rim. His form isn't too bad. Not like Shaq or anything.

As for the others, the team just doesn't have a lot of natural shooters - they're all very streaky like Holiday minus Reddick.

Shooting was always this team's Achilles. I'm actually shocked they've shot the 3 as well as they have when the only player I'd consider a consistently good shooter is Reddick and maybe Moore. I guess Meli too.

Just so everyone is aware, professional basketball players work on free throws nearly every day. Some guys just can't make them for whatever reason. It's absurd.

I mean the sample size is crazy small.

I think a lot is mental. I mean Zion laughing at one really makes you think that.

Look at Lebron who is arguably the 2nd best player to ever play the game. He’s shooting 70% and shot like 65% last year. He’s worked on it year after year and just can’t figure it out.

Zion shot 64% last season at Duke on 203 attempts, I think it's fair to say that's an area that could use improvement.

I don't think Zion will ever be a great FT shooter, but I do think he will improve over time.

Really, I'm talking about the rest of the team. They are PATHETIC. Even guys that regularly make them have been missing lately.

And with the attention Zion gets, we are going to live in the bonus. We have to get our average up to 70-75% regularly, at least.

This is probably going to remain a problem. Jaxson and Zion are both bad at FTs and both get fouled at a high rate.

But like I said, those guys drawing fouls at a high rate puts the team in the bonus early in a lot of quarters. The rest of the team needs to knock them down.

Who is he battling with the second spot in your opinion?

Because he's already at least the 2nd best and given how much basketball he has left to play, I think if you're not biased, he's going to be the no brainier goat.

An argument could be made for Kareem, whom everyone seems to just dismiss but was ridiculously great and dominant, with a pretty much unrivaled resume. But that's for another thread.

We need to get him over 70%. He would’ve had almost 30 points last night if he had made A few more

same as ever.

I blame pels mgmt.

All that time farting around with two feet landings and he has no touch on his shot.

And Lonzo.

Two starters not worth spit at ft line.

Doom.
Hack a zo.

You normally seem to have a negative view and appear to be a Celtic fan. Why the traffic here? Are you a Pels hater or do you view yourself as a neutral party? You dont seem to troll, so i dont care either way. Just curious...

Will end up being a career 70%+ FT shooter. His form is good.

Its amazing how many times "he's only played 3 games" can be the answer to questions around here.

I'm not worried about Hayes. His form looks great.

Zion's shot is terrible looking. He's been shooting flat free throws and 3 from the get go. That being said, i trust Vinson to get this corrected.

Once you get the form down, like Lonzo has done, it's all in your head after that. I think we can get to a point where Zion has better form, and i wouldn't worry about his head. Free throws should be muscle memory. If you have to think before shooting a free throw, you'll never be good at it.

The league wide free throw % of the Metairie men’s b-ball D minus league is better then the pelicans. Not exaggerating. I don’t think any of us are shooting free throws in our spare time. Blows my mind .
