he still hasn’t regained all of his explosiveness.
And yes, the rapid improvement in certain parts of his game has been off the charts good.

Its going to be REALLY interesting to see what he evolves into, especially when he has ACTUAL, non-covid offseasons to work on things.
Because this is what he looks like without them. Sheesh.

He’s never had a completely broken shot.
It’s not pretty but he actually lead that Duke team in 3s

Come on, take it like a man buddy:
You both still want to defend this nonsense?
Or is time to admit you both made ridiculous proclamations about a guy 35 games into his career under incredibly un-ideal circumstances despite historical all time trends standing in front of you.

Can't wait. We really gotta get a real squad around this dude ASAP, I want to be a legit title contender in 2 years. We have the pieces to kickstart that, Griff gotta figure this shite out.

i don't know anymore bunchie. Technically, probably not. The world has to decide to say frick it and live life like we always have and i don't see that happening anytime soon.

Griff has to get 2 tough perimeter defenders that can make a shot.
If he's there around where we are picking in the middle to late lottery, Scottie Barnes makes a lot of sense.

You've done this before, you think you're right because you pretend no one ever made the Zion/Draymond small ball 5 defensive comparisons, you're just literally making that up because that was one of the main comparisons on that side of the ball for Zion coming out of college.
My legit concerns were never ever ever on the offensive side. I recognized things that needed improvement, but was never concerned about the offense.
So again, nice try, but you're wrong and you have to pretend things that happened never did happen in order for you to be correct.

He was already in historical territory, outpacing Shaq even then, so quit making excuses.
excuses?
did you imagine a 4 point PER bump and an 80% FT clip over half a month in that thread? no, so be quiet
hell you've previously pointed out multiple times the historic jump Ingram has made in his FT%...over 2 years. Zion did that in 4 weeks

Your argument was shite then and it’s pathetic to try and defend it today
you need to go back and re-read what i actually posted

i think the weight, knee injury, and this lame arse SVG offense (for him) are 3 things messing with his head for sure
quote:
i don't think it's Adams. i think it's much more SVG's lame arse offense for Zion. he's basically being told "do nothing except put your head down and drive" on offense
quote:
but that still is kind of my point. on the level of player, we thought he'd be much more lebron than griffin. now being griffin is still a great player and obviously worthy of the #1 pick, but it isn't the generational guy we all thought we were getting
how much of that is the injury, SVG, or Zion? we will probably not know anytime soon (possibly ever)
i was wrong here, since a lot of it seems to be SVG and a lot changed when SVG did

I think my bonafides as a huge fan of Zion are well-established, and I have to say as incredible as he has been, he still hasn’t regained all of his explosiveness.
i agree. he's still not Duke Zion right now

Dudes are taking it as a huge knock not realizing they're the ones saying he's capped out athletically, while we're saying, nah watch this dude can take it up even another level.

The problem was that you and others were making these proclamations 35 games into his career. Some were even saying that the amount of games played was not an excuse despite him being less than a half season played. He was improving, some people just chose to not see it. The argument was "he's not the same guy he was at Duke." Now, literally 15 games later, the same people are acting like no one could have seen this coming. Great, special, historic players are capable of this even though you and some others decided he wasn't that type of guy anymore. It is going to be very, very fun to watch him develop.

This dude is mad because he wants Zion to be at his peak right now and not get any better while I know that Zion can get better.

You and your boy wanted to lower his ceiling 35 games into his career because of revisionist history about his college career(he ALWAYS had issues with ball watching and defensive IQ) and buying into the most insane of expectations and him not reaching them 35 games into his career. When reason was presented you and your boy had waved it away and doubled down.
Lebron was a trash defender coming out(and for much of his career underwhelmed and refused tough assignments), Giannis was a bad defender, Draymond, a 4 year player, barely got on the court for two years and was below average defensively his rookie season. Ja is still a trash defender. Defense takes time in the NBA for the vast majority of young players and Zion coming out was a raw defensive prospect.
But you and slow in particular wanted to look past his historical trends on offense, ignore reason and context around Zion’s problems on defense, hyper focus on that, and write his ceiling down 35 games in.
Just take the lickings and move on man.
