I’m surprised we haven’t been connected to Dinwiddie. We went after in the off-season and the Wizards are openly shopping him, so it seems like a logical connection for at least whispers.
Disclaimer: I’m not saying we should get Dinwiddie

I kinda assume, like Tim Hardaway Jr(who I am sure the Mavs would be fine selling off before the foot injury made it impossible), Griff is probably secretly wiping his brow that he wasn't able to overpay for those guys because he'd probably already be unemployed.
Cause there's definitely a world where the Pels are straight fricked if we managed to pay Hardaway 22 million to be barely more efficient than NAW and then break his foot.

I'm surprised we haven't been connected to Evan Fournier. We were supposedly highly interested in the summer, and unlike Hardaway and Dinwiddie, he hasn't necessarily underperformed. He is right at the TPE number and New York seems ready to move him.

Last season, at the trade deadline, we were connected with practically every free agent available. One thing that you can definitely say about David Griffin is that he throws up smokescreens and keeps the actual deals quiet. With the Jrue Holiday trade, the Bucks weren't even mentioned until the deal was done.
I think that at least half of these players are just fake interest.

You mean he's a really good liar. yes we all know that.

Haha for sure. Also, my understanding from someone who was once close-ish to the situation is that he gives permission to others (agents, execs, etc.) to throw our name into the mix constantly as both a way to get favor from them, get our name in the news, and because (we are now moving into speculation) he loves/wants/needs to be liked by others. It’s a big reason the Ball thing played out like it did, Griff wanted to keep a good relationship with Klutch and not rock the boat with them, so he doesn’t match and gets walked over.
Again, that’s all speculation and nothing that can be proven for sure, but it would explain some of his decisions.

That is the only explanation of the Lonzo deal that makes any sense. Perhaps Griff is/was planning a Ben Simmons deal, and he wanted Simmons and Clutch to be on board with it.
There's always had to be more to the Lonzo deal than meets the eye.

The Clippers are trading Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow, Keon Johnson and future second-round pick to the Trail Blazers for Norman Powell and Robert Covington, sources tell ESPN.

Clippers got the best part of this deal, by far.
Blazers going into rebuild.

What a steal for LAC.
I feel like the Pels could have easily beaten that value and still gotten Powell for something we would all have been content with.

Hell, just sending Didi and 2 2nds would have been far better value for Powell than bad contracts and a 2nd

Sounds like we weren't interested.

Unless we just didn't want Powell and Covington

Jesus christ that is highway fricking robbery.
We PAID to get off Bled/Adams, Clips out there turning that into an 18ppg wing defender that can light it up from three.
We better be getting CJ for like Hart trash contracts and a second or I'm gonna be pissed.

Now watch us give twice as much for somebody half as good as Powell.
You telling me NAW+Sato and 2nd round picks isn't better than that?

I have to imagine that only type of player they'd blow it all on is a lead guard at this point.

Wow. I’m not the biggest Powell fan, but I’m surprised at that little of a return for him and Cov. I thought Covington alone could net them a late first. If you consider Johnson equal to a late first, then Powell was basically a straight salary dump.
On the Clippers side, it appears they aren’t tanking even with the Leonard news that he’s not returning this year. I guess it makes sense considering they don’t have their own first

Im not giving up shite of value for CJ. The talk is his contract is a negative asset.
