The difference is, Beal is much further down the bail out path than Zion. Does Dinwiddie really end up doing enough for Beal to eventually want to stay? Wizards are probably asking themselves that and not wanting to grossly overpay for SD.

Supposedly Beal legit likes DC
No, I get that, he seems to root himself into places and has a lot of team loyalty in his blood. Which is why I always said he was worth the warchest.
But last year we saw the near breaking point before Westbrook got there and healthy, its clear his patience and affection isn't unlimited. And Washington is playing with fire since he is a UFA after this season.
Even more than us I could Washington going to the extreme to make sure they get Dinwiddie.

You can't have it both ways, if they don't want to overpay then they need to be creating an exist strategy, them not having done that tells me they are in for a penny, in for a pound. So they are as incentivized or more to match any market offer above theirs.

I honestly don't think this tweet will age well. Dinwiddie probably gets paid, the question is who hands him that bag?
I imagine his offer from us or anyone else is currently not a bank breaker….so his agent is trying to drum up a competition between us and the Wizards to come up with a better deal.
I hope we offered something like 3yr/$56mil and his camp is hoping Washington bails him out.

Let's not overrate the intelligence of the Wiz front office. That organization is in the Pelicans' realm of good decision making over the past few years.

Which is all the more reason they are in this situation and likely to make panic moves to try and desperately over-correct for past mistakes....like the Pels, but in even more dire straights.

That’s actually not as much as I thought. Would have been worth it

Maybe so, but it's clear right now they are trying to avoid that.

I dont think there is anything that indicates that is the clear path they are on at all right now.

Let Washington overpay Dinwiddie, sign some pieces to try to sneak in the 7 or 8 seed. Wiz suck without Westbrook, throw the damn entire bank at Beal next year.

Sources: Restricted free agent Devonte' Graham is signing with the Pelicans via sign-and-trade, with New Orleans sending first-round pick to Charlotte.

At this point I would pray for Reggie Jackson and bringing Hart back.
I think Mac's speculation is correct and Dinwiddie is just leveraging us to get more from Washington.
If Reggie Jackson's late season play was real he might actually be a steal with a chip on his shoulder and still more to prove. And I still think Hart getting his coveted Vinson time could turn him into a legit 3 and D energy wing.

Not a bad contract! I hope that pick is a fake 1st.

Still wouldn't be opposed to going and getting Reggie Jackson not he cheap and bringing back Hart.

This is not good on so many levels

Wow thought he would get 20 a year. Great deal for Portland.
