how did you manage to quote a post from an entirely different thread?

The Aja album is spectacular.
Aja is a top ten song for me.
ZZ top's "Just Got Paid" is a fun Karaoke song.

proving as usual, you never have any idea what you're talking about

Steely Dan is for pseudo-intellectuals who like to smell their own farts and tell one another how complex and profound SD's lyrics are.
Music is meant to be enjoyed. ZZ Top is much more enjoyable.

Hands down Steely Dan. ZZ Top is fun but shallow music. Steely is fabulous and sophisticated
To you guys thinking ZZ Top is better? Thanks. I needed a good laugh today.
I wouldn't have went "shallow" on ZZ Top but I agree with the rest. It has been said many many times in the past...Steely Dan is your favorite band's favorite band.

I've gotten more enjoyment from Steely Dan's music over the years than ZZ Top. Which isn't saying one is better than the other, they're both fantastic bands.

If you want a very clean, musically great recording, then it’s hard to beat Steely Dan.
Both times I've seen Steely Dan live they've been great. First time I saw them Michael McDonald opened, then played piano and sang background with Steely.

Saw 'em in Vegas @ the Sphere last month.
Still rocking, just not as late as they used to....

Both are good. SD is a very smooth and a solid elevator music band.
ZZ Top has a unique blues and southern/Texas influenced sound that includes one of the best guitarist out there.

Steely Dan (the name of a dildo) is pretentious douche level yacht rock at best whereas ZZ Top is a phenomenal three piece band from Texas.

Vastly different, but Steely Dan based on the background singers alone wins in a landslide.
Eta, I still have my double Z Eliminator keychain like the one in the videos.

Out of all the bad threads on here lately, this might be the worst. Two great completely different bands. It is like arguing who is better Yes or ACDC.

ZZTOP for me, but Steely has some great tunes and the AJA album is a masterpiece.
