Could you pick it up in La?

Absolutely. It was a 50,000 watt flamethrower station much like WWL. The show came on from 11 till 1 on Friday and Saturday nights. LINK

This is where I first heard songs like Careful with that Ax, Eugene by Pink Floyd and Illegal Smile by John Prine.

Just read the Wiki article. The show went off AM in 1972, which was well before my radio listening days. I'm still a bit surprised I'd never heard of it before though.

I wonder if any airchecks survive. Somewhere on an external HD I have about half an hour of the legendary KPPC from 1970.

that is one of my favorite songs ever

definitely his most powerful one and thats saying a lot.

BTW I really enjoyed Mutt though I found the producing to be lacking... That could stem from the fact that I believe his music to be more powerful when its just him and his acoustic.

it was self produced, which I think was a mistake and found the production lacking in areas, and overproduced in others.

the songs hold up though. theres some really good songs on there.

too bad he didn't put "wreck of the sultana" on it...

probably the best song he's ever written

sultana
