I get that. The back end of the album, outside of Ya Hey, doesn't reach the heights of the first half. I just love the theme of the album and it works all the way through for me, despite a couple of misses.
Definitely agree that Contra is their weakest, though I Think Ur a Contra is one of my favorites. I probably put Modern Vampires ahead of their debut just because of how much more of an "album" it is. But both are great and I likely flip that depending on my mood.

mine is probably valerie june's album. it was certainly what i listened to most. saw her at circle bar in October for an acoustic show. it was my favorite show i saw all year.
