Whether or not they make albums, they will play live shows...so that money is always there. But if there is an opportunity to make more money by selling an entire album vs receiving a royalty from Spotify, 100% would rather make and sell an album.

I'd also argue they make their living on albums, not touring. No album = no tour.

It should but probably not. Once we get to the level where we have streaming features natively in most cars, I think streaming will truly start the takeover. Until then, people will continue to deal with the pain in the arse that is iTunes and the like.

Certain things like iTunes well come and go, but I'd be surprised if it ever got to a time when no one ever bought music to "own" let alone that it would be something on the horizon. I still occasionally buy CD's, usually at a show of a "local" type band. Is Yo Momma's Big Fat Booty Band or Big Sam's Funky Nation on Spotify?

Also some of you need to realize that you are probably the 1% of tech savvy people. If you and your friends are able to get you music streaming everywhere, you assume everyone else does, but most of us don't. I really don't know how you guys get streaming stuff everywhere. There are plenty of places I go, even in town where a struggle with service. Maybe I have a shitty phone, but it happens all the time, we don't have wi fi in my office and other companies in the building have secure networks so I'm using the Sprint network, but just using TuneIn or Iheart Radio to listen to say sports talk I frequently have problems where it doesn't work. I also don't get interest in my car. I know you can through the car radio, but mine doesn't and its a 2011. When driving between Houston and BR/NO, I listen to music I own on my iPod or even gasp. CD's. I don't have satellite radio in the car because I usually ride a bus to work but even if I'm in the car, I'd just as soon listen to sports talk. So, yeah, there's still a reason for a lot of us to buy music. It will change and there will be fewer people buying probably, but I doubt it ever completely ends.
