Will Spotify eventually kill off iTunes?

Itunes still has some things not available on Spotify. Itunes also has a cloud service that is $20 a year to stream all of your music (up to a certain amount) from anywhere.

Itunes will probably still be around but it will need to adapt to not relying on album sales for $$$.

I think you may be correct.

If Spotify doesn't do it, something else will. But it's the fact that music is so accessible to people these days, that it really is silly to drop $10-$15 on a CD that you can stream from a site (spotify, youtube, soundcloud, 8tracks, etc.)

Just like Tapes, CDs, etc. the iTunes market will start taking a hit. It'll be interesting what iTunes will come up with to persevere

And yes, the fact that Spotify, and when I say Spotify I mean all unlimited subscription streaming services, doesn't have the rights to certain artists yet gives iTunes a leg up in that regard. But I would imagine those issues will clear up over time.

Not sure if serious...but unless you are at the beach in Mexico, you should still be able to stream from Spotify, since you should have a phone signal. You can also designate certain songs / albums as "offline." This basically downloads the songs to your phone so you can listen to them without a phone or wifi signal.

Yes. You can do that with spotify. If you have an ipod touch you can download spotify, create a playlist, then set the playlist for offline mode. This will allow you to have the playlist wherever you go with no internet connection.

I have Rdio and love it. Not sure if it's better or worse than Spotify though...anyone know the difference?

You'd have to get rid of Apple to get rid of iTunes...so no. Not a chance. iTunes is much, much more than just music as well.

Also, if an artist isn't selling albums then why should they even create music? To get a tiny royalty to live on?
