Why isn't there a rock station in Houston?

Is there a simple answer?
94.5 is horrible. Imagine Dragons once an hour. Seriously sucks.
107.5. Classic rock plays the same songs over and over...
Fourth largest city in America. Won't ever hear Slayer here!
I know there are plenty of options for personal music. I just want to know why Houston doesn't have a rock station.
Any other cities like this? No heavy metal or hard rock on the radio?

94.5 seems like an actual rock station. Now I'm not sure how many stations around the country play heavy metal so that might your problem

Why is it every time somebody complains about rock not being on the radio or music was better in the old days, they then cite heavy metal shite to support their argument?

Because the truth hurts. We need real metal back on the radio. It is the only way to save what is left of this country.

Some of those metal bands from our days are still putting out music.
You wouldn't know that listening to the radio here.

In a word...money.
Radio stations survive on paid advertisements, and those people buying airtime need a very broad audience to convey their message to. The folks who would tune in to a heavy rock/metal station is a very small percentage of the radio listening population.
As a teen, I would see the weekly AM and FM ratings for all of greater New Orleans radio stations from my father, who was tied to that industry (1985ish to around 1999). I remember as a teenager I couldn’t fathom that rock stations weren’t #1 ( because that’s what I listened to!).
In actuality, during those years, the number #1 FM spot (before WWL jumped to 105.3) was held by soft rock/adult contemporary (WLTS 105.3) followed by country (WNOE 101.1 (before there were 30 country stations in every market). Soft rock was what you heard in just about every doctors office, waiting room, office environment, and public entity and it was on all day long—that’s where people selling a product want to advertise and spend their money.
The rock stations were usually in the bottom 50% of the weekly rankings.

Because they needed 21 Spanish stations.
True story.

When has Slayer or any metal ever been played on the radio other than specialty shows late at night?

I’m not asking for metal but maybe some Alice In Chains, Rage, STP, Metallica, or tool.

I was only there for a short period. Mid 2017, early 2018. Still a great show today. It's way better than the morning show here.

Good point. Brainwash marketing at it's finest.

Stevens & Pruett was a great show also.

Sure they play some rock songs. Most of it is just not my taste. No offense to your music taste.

I miss the old KLOL. 103.5 is good but has a weak signal. If you like scream,90.1 early Monday mornings like 2-5am.
The rock, metal, alternative demographic hardly listens to FM anymore for music.

Try 89.7 KACC. It’s the Alvin Community College station. Pretty damn solid.
You won’t hear Slayer but it’s still more straight ahead rock than any other station in town.

Obviously New Orleans is in the same boat. 95.7 is repetitive 70's Journey, Boston, Zeppelin over and over. Never any new songs from the classic artists. 92.3 is that Imagine Dragons and Lumineers that are considered rock today.
