Why isn't Charlie Daniels Band respected like the Allman Brothers?

They're really good. They have world class musicians. They played the same places ABB did.
Is it because nome of them died?

Because their music is not nearly as sophisticated, and the ABB is a much better band all around. That's no disrespect toward the CDB. I've seen them live and actually been to a party with them. Nice enough guys.
But the ABB is on another level.
BTW, I'm not going to get into a discussion with you about the subject.

It's probably because they don't have face melting solos from Skydog and Mr. Betts and the thunder from down under by Gregg.
I mean the easiest answer to this question is DUANE ALLMAN.
Dude was a straight up legend and true prodigy. One of the greatest of all time.

Charlie and Duane are at least equals musically.
Charlie Daniels is one of the greatest fiddle players of all time, but goes unsung because nobody cares about fiddle. Just like Yo Yo Ma is really good at cello or whatever he plays but nobody really cares because it's not a guitar.
No offense, and I grew up with ABB mind you, but they're overrated. A whole bunch of their songs are essentially guitar solos.
Plus Charlie Daniels got his arm wrapped around a post hole digger and retaught himself to play.

Genres weren't as well defined back then. Categorization by genre is more an invention by radio than anything

You may not like them but they are light years more sophisticated musically than 99% of rock music out there. Mountain Jam, Liz Reed, Dreams, Jessica, Les Brers, etc.
