Why do fat guys and computer geeks like heavy metal so much?

I know a ton and none fall into those category... that I can recall..
That said, I didn't realize so many adults listened to metal until I moved to NOLA years back... I don't think I knew anyone in BR that did, after a certain age...

I like heavy metal. I guess I could qualify as a computer geek as well so your theory may hold true, but it is also real big in skate/surf culture.

I've seen people from literally all walks of life listen to metal.
It's an intense, empowering, and sometimes intellectual form of music that can instill a sense of pride in you.
It's certainly not limited to the sort of individuals you so casually mentioned.
