I use the term loosely. Not necessarily only jam band specific e.g. Gov’t Mule

Grateful Dead
Allman Brothers
Phish
Widespread Panic
Gov’t Mule

Those are five of the big ones. I also include bands like Umphrey’s McGee, moe., SCI, etc.

This is about disliking a band or writing pejorative posts about a band. Simply what up and coming band(it has it yet to be formed) is able to sell out Red Rocks, but maybe still playing smaller venues in other cities. The Grateful Dead always come first for me, but all artists I’ve included are immensely talented. So who is it? I’m generally late to the party when it comes to a current, new band making good music because I’m usually on a kick of a couple of bands above.

I’ve heard Twiddle and liked them a lot.

5 years ago I probably would’ve said Greensky but feel like they’ve fallen back. I think Covid is gonna challenge a lot of trajectory and band ability to stay together. Otherwise, I liked where Spafford was going. But if had to bet, agree on the above, Billy Strings. Maybe Marcus King if he qualifies in that realm.

Twiddle is good.

Not sure they qualify but maybe Slightly Stoopid?

My Morning Hacket arguably should be picking up the mantle from that group in the OP. They just hate their fans and don’t have the tooting band mentality. When they are on and in the improv mindset they can be transcendent.

Remember this name: The Iceman Special. Even though they don’t consider themselves to be a jam band, their sound is layered with all the trappings of improvised jams... They’re about to blow the fvck up.

I was there and I’m a huge fan of the Dr. Dude album. Also I have been hearing them record their new album in the studio. It’s all tracked and being edited now. It sounds great.

I came here to say just this. The "Last Show on Earth" at T-Bois right before COVID shut everything down was something special.

My friend, I was there as well, and it was, indeed, special. The Iceman boys know what the people want and they deliver every damn time.

If folks don’t know them, they will soon enough.

Yeah I pretty much hate all jambands except WSP, Phish, ABB, and the Dead, but these guys are pretty good. Except when they do that awful Ghostbusters cover.
