Whiskey river is awesome.

"If hell had a jukebox" by travis tritt is one of my favorites right now.

"Dallas" by Alan jackson is also great.

These aren't old country songs though

One of my all time favorites.
I’d like to add Today I Started Loving You Again.
Watching some of his later videos you can see his emotions through his music.
What a life lived.
I wish I would have made it my business to see him in concert.

Bonus points if you can tell me right now, without Googling, who wrote it?

I will add that "Whiskey River" is best paired with "Stay all Night".

Willie has been performing that medley longer than I've been alive.

Someday When Things are Good (I’m Gonna Leave You)—-Merle Haggard

I’ve been playing this song weekly for 20 years with a viscous intent.

Townes is a gem. For various reasons, most his own doing, he never got the mainstream success he deserved. Every artist or songwriter in the business during his time, though, respected the hell out of him. Most still stand on his shoulders to this day.

"Bid the years goodbye, you cannot still them
You cannot turn the circles of the sun
And you cannot count the miles until you feel them
And you cannot hold a lover that has gone"
