There isn't an active doo wop thread -- in fact a search shows only three references to doo wop on the board at all -- so I'll try to sneak this in here.
The Duprees are remembered for their great version of "You Belong To Me" in 1962. I recently discovered the following, an irresistibly catchy combination of Jay & The Americans ("Come A Little Bit Closer") and The Vogues ("You're The One", "Five O'Clock World")
The Duprees - "Around The Corner" (1965)

I’ll second the Louvin Brothers. The pride of Henegar, AL.

3 pages before these guys were mentioned. Mark Olson and Gary Louris made some damn great tunes using their harmony. Olson left the band for a while, came back, and has left again.
I saw them live for one of their reunion shows and Olson was fricking trashed. Missing lyrics, off-key, just awful. That said, their early stuff was incredible.

Love them. Usually better vocals than the originals.
Four pages in and no mention of the Hollies. "On A Carosel" Jump to 3:30
