Where does Savage Garden rank as an alternative 90s band?

I have them pretty high up there. They had their very popular songs but "I Want You" was just a notch below there and easily a top 7-8 song of the decade I think

Agreed.

But to the OP's question--when I think of 90s alternative, I think of Pearl Jam, Blur, Weezer, Jane's Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins, Sumblime, Alice in Chains, etc. etc.

Savage Garden isn't even in the same stratosphere. But if you're into them, there's nothing wrong with that.

yep, I doubt they will be remembered with any reverence, if remembered at all...

but enjoy what you like! I like a lot of music that people don't like or don't even hear, but it doesn't diminish the value to me..

I guess it depends on how much of the 90's you spent hanging out in gay dance clubs. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
