Mainstream country has transformed into pop music. No different than any other era of music and transition. However there’s lots of great country/americana out there.

Turnpike
Zach top
Red clay strays
Charles Wesley Godwin
Sierra Ferrell
The goat Sturgill
Charley
Silverada
Jesse Daniel
Coltor wall
Cody jinks

Lots more

I listened to most of the BS you suggested. There's no band simply called Turnpike or Charley on YT. Red Clay Straws, Silverada, and Sierra Ferrell are terrible. I guess you're referring to that hillbilly Sturgil Sampson?? And Charles Godwin reminds me of the yodeling crap Randy Travis and Post Malone do. I heard maybe two songs by Zach Top I liked. Thanks for everyone's suggestions but we're on different wavelengths here folks. I like an acoustic country. A simple unplugged wooden guitar and a voice without lyrics of drinking, drugs, gambling, honky tonks, etc. Vince Gill was always nice and calming. Willie Nelson is hit or miss. These people playing a metal guitar and a violin can take that bluegrass junk to the mountains where it belongs. We don't listen to that BS in Louisiana!!!!

I think this board is acting like a bunch of pussies. Why can't country change for the better? What is your purity test? I don't hear other people whining about Jazz, Rock n' Roll and Classical changing. If you like Hank Williams music better than Garth Brooks, so be it. Just cuz it has a cowboy hat on it, does not mean that it is not allowed to change. I would argue that of all the music genres, country music has changed the least.

Well the music you seem to like is already out and has been for many years. Just dive deeper into their catalogs. Just listen to that and chill out yelling at the clouds you grumpy MFer. You obviously aren’t going to like any of the newer music.

Btw it’s turnpike troubadours and Charley Crockett.

A lot of the west coast power brokers have moved to Nashville now. They have started wielding a lot more influence over the country scene which used to be much more insular.

You cant come around bitching about country music being dead and then bitch about Mike and the moonpies. Country music isn't dead. Its different, but its far from dead and in many ways better than ever.

Your definition of country died when electricity was discovered. If you cant enjoy what's out there today, youre just miserable and looking for things to hate.

A simple YouTube search of many of the artists listed who are considered “new” have plenty of acoustic unplugged songs. He’s just being miserable and stubborn. Yearning for the old days and hating on anything new.

I'd already mentioned Charley Crockett dummy lolol. I guess your parents didn't tell you to read thoroughly. Proofreading only got you so far lol. Your version of country sounds like Miley Cyrus version of disco / funk.

You folks who have a severe difference of opinion don't need to be jerks. It was a simple question to a very personal topic. If you're going to a jerk to every new user I suggest you develop manners first. Bullying someone who's tastes that are finely tuned isn't acceptable. I'm almost 50, I don't appreciate some of your posts. There are times I have very thick skin. But you guys are as immature as the sports dudes. Too quick to ascertain your thought(s). Idk what some of you mean by baw. I'm not ghetto nor backwoods trash. I'm close to leaving this website for a 2nd time, and my last. To those of you who chose to be mature in responding, thank you for not popping off with your rudest opinions.

We dont have to rely on the radio for exposure anymore and we have the internet to find what we like easier than ever. The music doesn't have to come out of Nashville for you to easily discover it. There's been great suggestions for new country music in this thread.

You can tweak the definition of country however you choose and no matter how you do it, there's fresh good stuff thats easy to find that fits whatever screwed up idea you can come up with.

Country Music artists have been complaining about the "Nashville Sound" for decades and how it trends to a "poppy"sound . The Outlaw movement in the 70's was a reaction to it.

A bunch of you folks keep hyper focusing on Nashville. Nashville today is what Florida Georgia Line started 15 years ago. You see how quickly that ish faded. There's no doubt Louisiana country is more lost than LGBT. Lol. If I could delete the entire thread now, I would. I'd also block the toxicity of some of the users who commented very ugly. If my description of country is too progressive and radical from yours, I can guarantee ya you don't want to know my thoughts on a universal deity hahahaha. Hoaxes don't belong in everyday people's lives. You folks are forced (brainwashed) to believe this or that at a young age in order to keep from being in make believe heaven and hell LoL. Yaw and baw need to immerse yourselves in the genius of George Carlin. A man who's 50 years ahead of his time.
