Never really cared for his singing. He’s got a pretty terrible voice but he admits it. I enjoy his spoken word more than anything.

The End of Silence is a pretty cool album. His Black Flag stuff is alright.

His first few solo albums were great. After that Weight, End of Silence and Come in and Burn were really good, the rest are just alright.

Saw Rollins Band at Leo's Roller Rink on the Hot Animal Machine tour, with about 15 other people. They played like they were playing in front of thousands of people in a stadium. Great set.

I’m a fan of HR. Caught his spoken word at the Varsity probably 15 years ago.

I do know that he is a hard core audiophile/equipment geek—the audio mags do stories on his systems from time to time.

He has a $200k speaker system at his house
He said the name of it in an interview with Joe Rogan. I googled the name and saw the price

Yeah, I think he’s a really interesting person, and enjoy listening to him talk..but not a huge fan of him as a musician other than some of his black flag stuff. I really enjoyed his The Henry Rollins Show on ifc, and I just fell into a YouTube nostalgia wormhole a couple of weeks ago watching that old MTV show 120 Minutes.

Grew up on Black Flag and I like most of his Rollins Band stuff. Get Some Go Again might be my favorite over End of Silence. But I can listen to it all.

His spoken word stuff I can only take in doses. After a while, he's saying a whole lot about a whole lot. The joe rogan podcast with him was excellent.

He uses Wilson Audio Alexandrias driven by VTL Siegfried mono tube amps and VTL pre amp.

His entire rig retails around $375k.

Dating myself here but snuck in to see a Black Flag show when I was barely in high school. Was one of the wildest live shows I ever saw. Got to meet Henry who just hung out after the show like a regular guy just shooting the shite with the fans. True punk rock hero and was a nice guy to some punk arse kids in a random town (Birmingham) who weren’t old enough to shave

He did the same thing here when they played Jacy's BITD. Not sure if I'd really characterize him as "nice" but he was very engaging. Likes to hear himself talk. He doesn't suffer fools gladly but he had no problem interacting with us little punks.

Not really a fan of his music, but I enjoy listening to him shoot the shite.

I remember years ago, his band played a song on The Dennis Miller Show. Afterward, as he was approaching the couch, you could tell in Dennis' eyes that he was gonna have a field day with Rollins, probably thinking he was some dopey meathead...well, that changed once Rollins started talking, and by the end of the chat, Dennis was genuinely awed by the guy. I don't think I ever saw a talk show host do a 180 like that

Yeah maybe nice wasn’t the best way to describe it as at the time he was pretty intimidating

I say nice as opposed to other complete and utter douchebags like Thurston Moore, Perry Farrell, and the guys in REM all of whom were complete and total assholes

It still trips me out a little that even growing up in a small WVa town, my best friend had a half-pipe in the back yard and we jammed out to Lou Reed, DK’s & Black Flag complete with

stickers on our skateboards.

And to Kige some posters here, Rollins’ talent as a storyteller probably surpasses his music.

And love or hate the song, Liar is a fricking great video.

No links? How about Henry Rollins on David Lee Roth / Van Halen:

Rollins is awesome, but weirdly for as huge as the DC hardcore scene was he isn't usually mentioned as being a part of it though he was born and raised in DC. his DC band didn't get much traction.
