I hated that song when it was popular, then I heard it was about the death of Carl Wilson's Irish Setter.

"Puff the Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul, and Mary makes me look like I've been chopping onions.

"I'll Be Home For Christmas" and "White Christmas" get me kind of weepy sometimes. Those songs were recorded during the height of World War 2 and were sung from a soldier's perspective, so I think of my Dad and late uncle serving overseas when I hear them.

"Soldier's Last Letter" by Ernest Tubb. Title is self-explanatory.

That's My Job and The Walk by Sawyer Brown get played a good bit when I get into the bourbon and start thinking about the old man

On the other hand, a congregation singing Christ the Lord is Risen Today will bring a tear to my eye, that is the most joyful song

Shenandoah - I Want To Be Loved Like That

quote:

An old man kneeling all alone
Plants his flowers in a garden of stone
For seven years now she's been gone
And his devotion is still going strong

Makes me think of my Grandparents, first & only time I’ve seen my Grandpa cry was when my Grandma passed

I came here to say the same. I guess some don't get the reference.

I honestly never get moved to tears by music, but I have had one experience that got me pretty good. Last year Time by Pink Floyd came on while I was driving to attend one of my best friend’s wake. It was during an absolutely gorgeous sunset and he was a huge Pink Floyd fan and was the one who had gotten me into their music in the first place so it hit me pretty damn hard at that moment.

This was played during the final viewing for my Dad at the funeral home. I had held it together well until that moment.

That song totally got me.

"Father and Son" by Cat Stevens. My dad loved that song. He passed away in January.
