For me, I’d say primarily Bobby Brown and some others. But I was born in 1994 so I can only say so much here.

My mid-90's soundtrack was dominated by Phish, Widespread Panic, Blind Melon, and Pearl Jam.

I recall Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun" getting gobs of airplay on MTV, back then. It seemed tracks from Metallica's "Black Album" were everywhere, too.

Lightning 100 in Nashville played Barely Breathing by Duncan Sheik almost nonstop for two straight years.

I thought of it randomly a month ago and heard it the next day in a restaurant.

I remember hearing Dave Mathews a ton. Don’t bite the mailman.

Honorable mention: Don’t go chasing waterfalls, yuck.

Toby Keith - Should've Been a Cowboy

If I'm not mistaken, I read it was the most played song on the radio in the 90's.

Barely Breathing
Torn by Natalie Imbruglia
Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Wiser

If you went a day without hearing one of those songs around that time, you were a blessed human being.

Let’s just put it this way. I never want to hear Blind Melon “No Rain” ever again. It’s a shame they are mostly know for that act of vomit because they were a decent band.
