For me, a Martin D-35. I've played a D-28, D-18, gibson j-45, and a couple of Taylors. Man, the 35 is just a sweet guitar. Dark and beefy sounding paired with some John Pearse phosphor bronze mediums, especially after a couple of months. But still a very versatile guitar and so easy to play too. I really would like to play a j-200 one of these days.

Dream is a SJ200 in this finish

My favorite guitar I've ever owned is this Eastman E8D, it's basically Eastman's version of a Martin HD28 and I like it better than the HD28 I have.

A DYM70RSB- Slot head 12 fret slope shoulder rosewood Yairi Masterworks in sun burst

... as it sat on Reverb

It's the equivalent of a Martin D-28 Authentic 1931 12-Fret and actually blows the only one I know of away, according to it's owner, and every one who's played both. Which is a highly sought after limited production model.

It has very forward shifted asymmetrically scalloped X bracing, with ebony direct coupled bridge and ebony fingerboard, it's inlayed with abalone & mother of pearl, has a rosewood head stock, bone nut & saddle, and gold Gotoh tuners with Ebony Buttons. The sunburst Sitka top is clear and thin enough to still see all the medullary rings (silking) and bear claw.

The slot head and direct coupling increases string break and so has more down pressure. And with the same 25 1/2" scale length as a standard dreadnought they're approx 1/2 an inch longer in body or lower bout... so the bridge sits more central in a slightly larger area and it dials up the response. It plays light and loud and is incredibly resonant. I'm sold so far on the direct coupling, it's the 3rd and they all have worked as advertised and not had any problems (but they are not aged to that point), so yes the jury is still out.

That's a beautiful guitar.

I've got a 2018 D-28.

I would like a Guild D-55 or a Gibson J-45.

Awesome rig. Glad he was able to get one. Like I said, that is my dream guitar but I'm not good enough to justify spending the money on one.

I am so fortunate and privileged to get to enjoy everything under the sun, vintage to modern, every manufacturer, every price range. I get a lot of compliments on my restored and internally reworked '73 Hummingbird as being a local tone benchmark. I'm honored.

But here's the one that haunts me as being the best acoustic guitar I've ever heard, touched, smelt, visually admired, you name it, for what my five senses, my head and my heart want to experience. Dana Bourgeois OMC. Perfection.

Only played one that was OK to me. But for sound AND looks combined DB guitars check all my boxes. I think I just got hold of a dud.

Fullers Guitars in Houston allowed me to paw 2 guitars that were amazing.

1. Lightly used Santa Cruz burst dread. Felt like I picked up a ukulele it was amazingly light for its size and was embarrassingly loud in a small shop. But never was a sweeter GChord ever strummed.

2. Same shop. Got hold of a vintage Martin 000 or OM. Can’t recall. Not pre war incredible but late 40’s. It was amazing.

My own guitar is a Clapton 000-28 that Covid cash finally bought me. It is perfect. That Santa Cruz sounded better but was larger and twice the price.

I have that guitar in a darker finish. It really is hard to beat but it's so nice I hesitate to take it out of the case in case I bang it into something.

One guitar I regret passing on was a Maton Custom Shop, the best playing acoustic I've ever played and the woodwork was incredible. I saw it in the shop and went back the next day and it was gone. The regular Matons are really nice but the custom shop is at another level.

The one on the right mostly because I own it. Its a 2008 Taylor Custom GS Sinker Redwood. One of a just few, in fact I never seen another one exactly like it with the snowflake inlay on the neck. Its a better guitar than I will ever be a player.
