The overwhelming majority of music I’ve downloaded off the internet is legal 16-bit audio of live recordings. Either of bands who let their fans record their shows or bands fighting illegal bootlegging by making them available for free. (Thanks, Frank!) I’ve never illegally downloaded CD-quality audio of copyrighted material. I’ve downloaded a lot of MP3’s of copyrighted material that I’ve barely ever listened to. I feel no guilt over that because MP3’s suck. But playing a random mix of Billboard Top 100 Hits from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s on a laptop as background music during a poker game was kind of entertaining.

I'll see your illegal download and raise you a Columbia House eight CDs for a penny (with no further purchases).

Or taping songs on your double decker boom box as they come on the radio.

Even back then, it was like "if you don't want people to record songs off of the radio, why do you make stereo equipment that has record buttons and blank cassette tapes?"

You could literally put one cassette in one side, put a blank in the other, and record full albums. The same with dual deck vcrs.

Gotcha, I thought it might have been a sarcastic statement.

A friend and I moved into an apartment in ‘93 and received an offer mailed to the previous resident. So we placed an order in their name with no intention of buying another album at regular club prices. They didn’t fill the entire order saying they needed some money for additional purchases beforehand. We just took what what we got. But that’s how I got my B.B. King “King of the Blues” box set which is the only thing I remember getting from that order. It’s excellent. I probably never would have purchased it otherwise but it’s a treasured part of my collection.

“Stuck in the middle with you”, and it had artist name as Bob Dylan. So naturally I thought Bob Dylan did that song for the longest time.

And then once it was downloaded, it was just midget porn laced with a virus lol

Didn't you just want to kick that DJ's arse when he talked over the musical intro up until the lyrics started?

Started to download some Led Zeppelin on Napster but then I got sidetracked by Heather Brooke deepthroating her bf.

One of these days I'm gonna finish downloading Kashmir.

No doubt. It almost always seemed to happen on that one song that you were really wanting to record too.

Mine was Voodoo by Godsmack (lol)

That is so fricking weird. I think that was mine as well and I wasn’t even a fan just thought it sounded cool and dark.

If it wasn’t the first it was close and the only only I recall right offhand that could have been.

Very weird coincidence.

I’m not sure. I used a lot of lime-wire, morpheus, and kazaa.
My first mp3’s were provided on an mp3 cd by one of my dad’s friends. It was a couple hundred typical classic rock songs from zeppelin, hendrix, the stones, black sabbath, etc as well as a few current pop songs like nelly. The first one I downloaded myself was probably either pop punk (I was really into green day and blink 182) or RHCP’s. I actually downloaded the music videos for:
The Other Side - RHCP
By the Way - RHCP
What’s my Age Again - Blink 182
First Date - Blink 182
Fatlip - Sum 41
Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters
November Rain - Guns n Roses
Paradise City - Guns n Roses
Smooth Criminal - Michael Jackson
Thriller - Michael Jackson
