Bad Medicine

I cannot hear the song without changing the words in the chorus:

quote:

Your love is like bad venison
Bad venison is spoiled deer meat, whoa
Throwing up from that bad venison
There ain't no doctor that can cure my disease

Jump by Van Halen

Van Halen is one of my 5 or 6 favorite bands of all time, I LOVE van halen. But I hate Jump. What got me (and I'm sure countless thousands of other people) into Van Halen was their raw, in your face, beer chugging, arse kicking and name taking rock. Then you have jump, which in a tragic turn of fate gave them their first #1 hit. A poppy, synthesized, finger snapping, karaoke style singalong that doesn't sound like VAN HALEN at all.

I get the reason behind it. This was the mid-80s and times were certainly changing. Eddie was a consummate musician and wanted to branch out from simply shredding guitars all the time and wanted to show off the band's other musical abilities. And to their credit it "worked", as 1984 is their biggest and best album with the broadest commercial appeal. But I still hate it.

Exactly. I can name you my favorite 30 VH songs (half of them are with Hagar) but Jump would finish last near the Van Halen III stuff. Jump is just one of those songs that I never need to hear again. I get it. And a shame...drop it from 1984 and you have an album that is just as hard as the previous ones.

I am going to be in minority but here are others I loathe:

"Flirtin With Diaster" by Molly Hatchet. Anyone can sing like that when they try to sound horrible.

Any song by Canned Heat...sound like a muppet singing.

I fricking hate Bon Jovi. "Shot through the heart" is the worst song ever made and popularized. How someone listened to this song and enjoyed it is beyond my level of comprehension

I don't know if this counts as classic rock but every time I hear Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden I want to get out my 12 gauge and blow the radio to the next county.

I don't mind that one at all.

Hotel California on the other hand is just terrible.

Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan fills me with hate and anger. I really dislike Dylan's voice and the lyrics are 5th grade level stuff.

Rainy Day Women (Everybody Must Get Stoned) by Dylan also pisses me off. Wow Bob, you realized "stoned" has a double meaning, then beat that **** into the ground for 5 minutes. Genius.

The very 1st note of "Sweet Home Ala............". I cant even say that word.

And in Monroe they play that song on Rock 106 all the time like its a kick off of the 230 game in Tuscaloosa.

Give me a break.

I stand in agreement with the posters that point out that a lot of these songs aren't so much bad as they are just overplayed and I have grown tired of hearing them. Case in point : We're An American Band by Grand Funk. It's like it was the only song they ever recorded. All that being said, one that just grates on my nerves is "Miracles" by Jefferson Starship.

Having been fortunate enough to see many of these bands live in their heyday, I just cringe when some overplayed recording comes on. It's why I don't listen to the radio that much anymore.

And if I never hear "Riders on the Storm" again, it won't be too soon. Damn song goes on forever.

Blinded By The Light by Manfred Man or Born To Run by Springsteen (and yes, I know the former was written by him too).
