Legit for this thread. I like them, but as far as metal goes, they're bubble gum metal.

I can’t make myself listen to enough of Widespread Panic to have an educated opinion.

I guess, but I think with many alt bands (at least back then), most people were interested in a band's ear for melody moreso than musicianship. That said, those first couple of REM albums, while classics, were certainly garage-level compared to many, lol...

Coldplay does what they do very well, and they’ve found a huge audience.

I apologize for mixing singular and plural.

I wouldn't say U2 until Achtung Baby...now THAT album, I didn't know they had it in them.

Two pages in and we have Metallica and Slipknot.

Laughable.

I'll add a legit entry : basically any artist labeled "country" now. They far over achieved in a genre filled with past greats. If they were labeled pop I wouldn't have any beef.

And speaking of beef, bonus entry of all the mumble rappers.

Pavement... they could barely play any of their instruments when they started and are indie rock legends...

Widespread Panic, though the jamband genre is filled with lots of crap so it's a pretty low bar.

I believe Col. Bruce said something to the effect of, “I can name 100 bands better than Widespread Panic, but none I’d rather see.”

Slipknot comes to mind.

They are reportedly some of the nicest guys in the business to hear people who've dealt with them talk.

These threads are stupid.

Why not discuss which color overachieves in the rainbow and would be far less appealing on it's own.
