1. Paul McCartney
2. Pearl Jam - Lollapalooza
3. Beastie Boys - Voodoofest '04
4. Radiohead
5. Tool

These are based on how big of a crowd these bands draw and how hard tickets are to get.

Roger Waters gets an honorable mention. I consider him bigger than some of the above but it was damn easy to get tickets to his show last year. And it did not disappoint.

Not sure of exact order but guess I’d say:

Elton John
Dave Matthews Band
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Tool
James Taylor
Paul Simon
Radiohead

Wish I was old enough to have seen some of the acts previous posters have mentioned as well

*
Lynyrd Skynyrd
SRV
Prince (given ticket - wasn't impressed) / substitute: Springsteen
KISS
Pink Floyd

*limited to five

Honorable mentions: CSN, Dead, Beach Boys, Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss (again w/ R.Plant), Dolly Parton (well, ya'said biggest). . . considering venue and/or peak of their popularity

Yep - I down voted if you couldn't count.

1.Rolling Stones (1981, 1995)
2.Paul McCartney (2000s ?)
3.Emerson Lake and Palmer (1974)
4. Yes (1974)
5. Grand Funk Rail Road (1973)

Have seen most of the acts that would be called classic today, but these made the biggest lasting impression.

I typically don't go to big concerts... mainly club/theater shows and the summer festival circuit in the city...

That said, Ive been to three in the past two years.. Springsteen, Madonna and U2..

Went to a ton in the 80s..

You can rank them how you want but these are the nominees.

Paul McCartney
Bob Dylan
B.B. King
Robert Plant/Jimmy Page
Eric Clapton (Twice, first time was the next show after Alpine Valley. If there is ever a thread on the "heaviest" concert ever attended this is mine)
Allman Brothers (twice)
U2
John Fogerty
AC/DC
Van Halen, uh Van Hagar
Santana
Junior Wells
Aerosmith (twice, before they started sucking)
Black Crowes (opened one of the Aerosmith shows)
John Melloncamp (first concert ever)
Joe Walsh
if you want to throw comedians in the list George Carlin

I've seen a lot of others (Kansas (twice), Blue Oyster Cult, Def Leppard, Cheap Trick, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Blues Traveler, Triumph, .38 Special, Bill Engvall (before anyone knew who he was), even Tori Amos) but the above are the ones I would classify as "big"
