What are some good Winter, not Christmas or holiday, albums that you'd recommend?

However you define a Winter album is entirely up to you.

The Cure - Disintegration
You gotta listen to that album when it's cold, overcast, gloomy and you're a little depressed.

(I bought the record during my freshman year of college, when I had lost touch with high school friends and hadn't really made any friends in college. Last time I really listened to it was after Christmas a few years ago, after my wife's dog died.)

Excellent choice

This album is perfection. It definitely is deep dark and depressing.
I love it and listen to it almost everyday. It never gets old.
Disintegration- full album

I'll be honest. Before I read the any responses to this thread, Disintegration was the very first album that immediately popped into my head.

Rush's albums are fantastic cold weather fodder as well, probably because they were recorded in the same conditions.

Ironically, I ended up in Duluth Minnesota during an extreme cold snap (windchill of -40 degrees) and saw the band LOW in their hometown. The Slowcore genre isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it makes for some great winter listening....

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is the first one I think to spin when it's in the 40s, overcast & rainy

Another is Counting Crows' This Desert Life (couldn't tell you why...maybe it's the Colorblind piano)

Agree, and I love Low. Things We Lost in the Fire would be my album rec for them.

Dinosaur Act

Full album (I think)
