Decided to go catch his show at Arena Theater here in Houston. It was way, way better than I was expecting and the venue with the rotating stage was pretty awesome. There literally is no bad seat in the house. His playlist was a good mix of old, new with some tribute to Merle Haggard thrown in.
We actually arrived 30 minutes after the doors opened and found a parking spot right at the entry to the parking garage. Everyone was already inside so my SO and me were the only ones walking through the parking lot when we arrived. As we are approaching the entry doors Dwight steps out his bus maybe 5 feet away, looks at us and asks "How ya'll doing tonight?"
Definitely worth going to see him if you're considering it.

Saw him last summer on the LSD (Lucinda, Steve and Dwight) Tour. He put on quite a show. Here is one he probably didn’t play:

Dude has always done things to his groove. Always true to country swing. Always gives you your money's worth. BTW, Frick today's so called COUNTRY MUZAK.

He is awesome. A bright spot in a genre now filled w/ hacks and posers:
Great

Pete Anderson...., pretty much defined Yoakam's early sound. I'm more into the Junior Brown thing for pure Tele Twang.

Was it a thousand miles from nowhere?

Dwight is a national treasure. Made country cool decades ago.

How does one go about owning a genre? And please don't call me Dwight Yoakam.

Country music in general as in 99% of what you hear on the radio is garbage. But Dwight is really good.

If y'all have Spotify, or most streaming networks, he released an almost all solo acoustic album in 2000 called DwightYoakamacoustic.net. It's damn good if you want to hear him stripped down.
