I just don’t get why anyone would go to this. Sure he’s a funny guy might be a good musician but still why? Explain to me.

Eh. Why do you like the Cure?

Maybe if you were a 14 year old nerdy boy, you'd understand....

Al sold out Saenger Theater in NO last summer. Maybe going to the well too many times. We’ll see

Can’t say anyone has ever recommended I don’t go see a band because of poor lights

When did I say don't go because of lights? I was giving a review. If I give a restaurant review and don't like one of the items, that's not telling people to avoid the restaurant.

However, as this news is sure to spread about the sub-par lighting, maybe that would deter people from going to future shows.

And I was making a joke about all the ultra serious lighting discussion that was happening in a Weird Al thread.

It was pretty lame.

I have only ever seen Phish a few times at this venue, and although I wasn't expecting Phish level light show, it underperformed my niece's dance recital at Gas South Theater in March.

Fixed it for you.

My takeaway from this thread is that his shows are musical comedies for entertainment not because you like and listen to his music outside of a show or do you?

Have you really never listened to Weird Al? He has been around for over 40 years and was a staple on MTV all throughout the 80s and early 90s.

Weird Al is known for his parody but some of his original stuff is really good. He would have been a great serious songwriter if that’s what he decided to do.

Always liked this song. Ben Folds on piano.

I saw him last August. It was a great show and worth the $. Weird Al is 66 and he gets around like he's 40 on that stage. It's quite a sight to see.

I'm more of a fan of early Al.

But how could you even see it with Weird Al’s notoriously terrible stage lighting?!?!

He doesn't wear lipstick or whine, so It's probably not for you.

Man, I'd love to go see this, but my wife hate it. I was a middle schooler when Weird Al hit it big and have been a fan ever since. I listen and laugh my arse off, but my wife and daughter think I'm stupid as hell for liking and listening to him.
