Was The Dirty South the best southern rock album of the last 25 years?
If no, who is carrying the flame of true southern rock?

To come out since 1990... yeah probably... but I've been bashed a lot on here about my beliefs in things Isbell related.

Last 25 years? Are you on pot? With the greatest singer-songwriter in world history at the helm they crush any other collection of musically inclined southerners who have ever formed to smithereens. Hell it could be Isbell, a monkey on kazoo and a white girl in the rhythm section and pummel anybody in the last 25 years.

I think their best record is pre-Isbell... SRO
Not to mention, Decoration Day is the better record with Isbell IMO
That said, Carl Perkin's Cadillac is a fantastic song...

Southern rock is a pretty weak genre album-wise. Its strengths are singles and live shows.

Which makes the unique concept album that is SRO, that much more of a stand out...
Not really a huge fan of the genre, but there are def great songs peppered through out it..

I agreed. Definitely focused more on live performances since it encourages a lively, party atmosphere and at that point, song structure and album strength aren't focused on.
