This is my lineup for what I consider to be the ultimate metal fantasy band. Let me know what y'all think:

Vocals: Rob Halford
Twin Lead Guitar: Zakk Wylde and Dimebag Darrell
Rhythm Guitar: James Hetfield
Bass: Steve Harris
Drums: Scott Travis

Three guitars and one of them being Zakk Wylde? I've never heard of Scott Travis.

Yeah, like the three-guitar attack that Lynyrd Skynyrd had in their prime. The more guitars the better! Scott Travis has been the drummer for Judas Priest for years, check out his drum intro for the song "Painkiller". It's epic

Skynyrd isn't metal though. I don't think three guitars is necessary.

Dual-lead guitars with a rhythm guitar? Why not?

ETA: I done fricked up.

Zakk Wylde

Probably the most overrated guitarist of the entire genre. I could list about 25 musicians off the top of my head that would make the cut before him.

You've got a point. Although, I personally thought that Vinnie was the least talented member of Pantera.

A heavy metal lead guitarist should possess the virtuosity, power, and chops to play lead on their own. I agree, three guitars is too many for a heavy metal group.

Yea was a big Pantera fan growing up. These days I don't listen to much metal besides when I'm working out.

Pantera was what we listened to before HS football games...shite would get me so jacked. I was ripping dudes' heads off on kickoff. Then I'd sit on the bench the rest of the game...but I was so amped
