I'd love to give him the gig, since he's my all time favorite guitarist, but I don't think he'd mesh well with the others.

Okay dude, first of all, TRAVIS BARKER is the drummer for Blink 182, not Scott Travis! Scott Travis has been the drummer for Judas Priest for years and he's played in other metal bands as well.

And secondly, Zakk Wylde OWNS the guitar, I don't care what anybody says.

He's an enigma. He's one of my all time favorites and a huge influence on my playing but I get why people knock him. He has become generic over the years and has lacked originality in his lead playing and has ventured into the land of pure emotionless shred for the most part. You can still pluck a few jewels off of every BLS album, but for the most part once youve heard a recent Wylde lead part, youve heard them all. His lead tone has also suffered greatly because he cannot get away from the wah/rotovibe sound and he uses too much of the high end sweep on most wah solo's. A wah should be used in the way the Allen Collins does on "Needle and the Spoon" by Skynyrd. So many players overuse it. What made me fall in love with Wylde's playing was his early years when it was all about precision, aggression and heart. For the people dogging him, he was essentially a Randy Rhoads clone coming out of high school (without Randy's mind). He still holds alot of weight as far as influence in the guitar world because almost no one does the speed blues minor pentatonic lead licks better than him, save maybe Doug Aldrich. Zakk Wylde is an all time great and a consummate pro who absolutely has worked his arse of to get where he's at and has the chops that have taken a lifetime of dedication to achieve.

Holy shite man, I had a full-on brain fart as I was typing that. I'll will admit that was probably the most ignorant and unintelligent thing I have ever posted on the Internet.

Ahhh, it feels good to hit rock bottom.

Travis is a pretty decent drummer, particularly on their later albums. His double-bass on Painkiller is particularly addictive.

But I still think that Wylde uses pinch harmonics far too often in his playing. It has become more of a gimmick to his playing rather than a unique characteristic.

I always thought Dimebag was much better at employing similar techniques and styles.

An ultimate metal fantasy band or "Metal Supergroup" will never happen. You have to have one or two "Alpha" members of the band who control all decisions & the rest just play & take orders(Beta's). You can't have an entire band of "Alpha's". Those bands don't last.

Three guitars and heavy metal just doesn't work, Iron Maiden with 3 is a good example of that. The guitar sound just gets muddy.
